After so much blood, sweat, tears and fallen seeds, the final is, at last, upon us!

H2H: 6-2 Serena. Serena won the final here in 2016; Kerber won at the AO in the same year.

Kerber can win her very first Wimbledon title and her 3rd Slam overall, while Serena can win her 8th title here (surpassing Steffi Graf, but still behind Navratilova's 9) and 24th overall (tying Margaret Court).

So, who do you think is gonna win?

P.S.: Bets about the Royals' outfits will be tolerated, just for keeping the competitive juices flowing while the match doesn't start. But articles about its ramifications regarding the modernization of the Royal family will not. I just can't bear it anymore.

P.P.S: It's the first time I create a thread like this! I'll gladly accept some congratulatory strawberries with cream.

I think Serena has it all over the rest of the girls purely from a psychological point of view. I would have thought by now that the other girls would have exploited Serena's decline in her speed, agility and endurance by now, something which Kerber managed to do at the Oz open about 3 years ago.

Going to go different and go for Kerber.
Think she has a good shot considering she did beat a very good Serena in 2016.

I'll be happy with either result which is something I always love in a slam final :D

Kerber will need to change her game somewhat. In AO 2016 she was passing Serena by always going cross court. In W 2016 Serena expected it each time and was hitting easy winners off of it. Kerber need to put in more DTL passing shots, or Serena will have an easy day on anticipation of play.

Hoping for the American in this one but it could really go either way. It is always fun to continue to witness tennis history being made.

Mostly hoping for a high-quality, competitive match which I think that this one is going to be.

While I generally prefer more offensive minded players, I like Kerber's game. Earlier in the year I also felt like she was taking a few more chances which is good to see. I don't remember the 2016 matches, but I guess the big question for her is how the serve holds up.

Before the semis, I thought Kerber was the obvious favorite. After the semis, I've come around a little thanks to Serena looking pretty commanding against Goerges. She might be on her way to peaking in the final and if so, she'll be a hell of a job for Kerber.

I favor her if she continues to serve well. Favor Kerber if she dips on the serve in any way.

Overall, it's probably a 50-50 proposition and no outcome would shock me.

Serena is the favorite but I want Kerber to win for the first time. And Graf will be really proud of her.

Kerber's defense can force Serena to hit more shots, just to test her legs and fitness. Keep the balls in play maintain long rallies will favors Kerber. Serena thrives on short, quick points is where Kerber needs to prevent Serena in her comfort zone.

Kerber's advantage is that she can absorb Serena's power. That should help her extend rallies. The big issue, of course, will be dealing if Serena serves well. Last time around her serve was A level and Kerber, while excellent, cracked eventually. It's going to be hard for her not to crack again if Serena brings the same serve game to the table.

Setting my alarm. Can hardly wait! I really hope Serena wins. It would suck to get up early and watch her flop. I am hoping for a coronation of a trophy ceremony and lots of TTW butthurt. Of course, the last time I got this excited, she was attacked by her pigeon and had her eyes pecked out :(

I have a feeling she won't flop. It should be a good match.

Everyone seems to be underestimating the blancmange. When was the last time anyone has seen an intergalactic tennis match? It usually doesn't end well for the host planet.

Kerber with that horrible serve has to hope that Serena has an off day on the groundstrokes to have any chance at all.

Serena in 2 easy sets, not losing more than 6 games.

Especially considering Pancho González was sucked through the net at match point and swallowed whole in just under two minutes, after serving so well and hitting some superb volleys and decisive return volleys off the backhand...

Men's SF finally done and dusted and it's time for the main show.

Cmon!
I’m so glad you posted. When I saw it was Rafa/Djokovic I decided to record it and not set an alarm because who knows how long it would take. Just woke up and checked this thread to see if anything was happening. Got a whole extra 1:45 sleep and I still get to see it live.

Really jealous. It's 1AM here and i'm so tired but I so badly wanted to watch this. Got work in 10 hours or so but oh well.

Ah ah ah! I was just about to reply I'd make a nice mug of coffee as a way of making amends for giving you false information (that semifinal was extraordinary, though).

Serena looking to be the first mum since Evonne Goolagong to win Wimbledom.

Kim Clijsters was the last one to win a slam as a mum.

I don't how anyone can enjoy this match after the Rafa vs Novak match. The feminist brigade should watch a Nadal vs Djokovic match to see why male tennis players get paid more.

Go enjoy the good feels the Rafa-Novak match has given you instead of bothering with people who are going to watch this match.
