Which player would win in a hypothetical match at the AO, 2019 Nadal or 2024 Sinner?
Sinner is looking unstoppable right now, but so did Nadal leading up to the 2019 AO final.
My personal pick would be Sinner in 3, but what do you guys think?

I don't think Djokovic will have a chance against Sinner this time. This is not 2011, 2016 or even 2019 anymore. The guy is already 36 years and 8 months old, and he has not shown anything impressive throughout the tournament so far. He even looked more impressive in 2018 AO for real

Yeah, nice jinx attempt.

Djokovic’s level has been all over the place this tournament. So form-wise there are serious questions.

The best thing Novak has going for him is this is definitely the fittest and best he has looked physically for a long, long time. Probably since 2019.

Nope, he definitely looked better in 2020, 2021 and 2023 than he does this year.

Djokovic fans try to hype his next opponent who will lose to him in straights. Yawn.
Sinner has had an easy draw. Watched him v rublev and it was an awful match. Fritz level was way higher.
People are not watching matches who are saying sinner will win. He is nowhere near the level he was in italy end of last season.

Still, you can’t overlook his serving stats last couple matches, scary good. Also his winners/unforced error ratios: 53/28 (1/4 Final), and 32/18 (R16)... that‘s really solid.

Sinner does a lot of things that should bother Nadal, but he's not as complete as Djokovic, and he's still untested in the biggest stage.

Realistically it's a coin toss matchup, I'd say.

That Nadal is really hard to measure. So dominant leading up to the Final but in retrospect it was an absurdly easy draw and Djokovic exposed him. How much of that was Djokovic's greatness vs. Nadal's lack of elite form?

I would bet Nadal in 4 over Sinner simply because I won't believe Sinner can beat a big three at a slam until I see it. And I see Djokovic beating Sinner in 3, 4 max in the semi.

Nadal in 3, 6:0 6:0 6:0, easily.

Sinner is a dream match up for Nadal who likes opponents who doesn't move very well are not fast.

Voting on this before Djoker inevitably beats Sinner in straights feels premature
Well now that we saw what actually happened, I guess taking 2024 AO Sinner over 2019 AO Nadal should be a pretty easy feat, though Jannik still has to win the final. Although Djokovic was even worse than Nadal in their respective losses, this Djok against 2019 AO Djok is 6-1 6-2 6-3 for the latter.

Lol..Nadal in 4 max. He just choked in the final massively against Djokovic. No one in the rest of the field was getting close to him

That final was a combination of a monstrous performance by the Serbian player and the worst GS final that Nadal has played in his career, and even so, it was not as bad as the recent performance of the number 1 in the world against the young Italian player.
:D

don't get how you pick Sinner here, given 2022 who doubts that 2019 nadal would pistol whip medvedev?
