Notice, that when Nick is playing seriously, his footwork elevates to a whole new level which allows his short-bunt backhand to really do damage, and his forehand technique changes dramatically - the ratio tips from mostly arming the ball to more using his body. Really great to watch when he plays like this.

Nah that was Nadal. Poor guy's hand was damn near falling off, at least according to reports from that perfectly objective news source 'Nadal News'.
Nick had this Knee injury. But Miraculously,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, it was healed by the time final started........LOL. I think he faked it so that he will have an excuse just in case he lost in the middle of tournament. But now that he won,,, no more need for the excuses. so NO MORE excuses. That's how nick rolls

You have to recognize the irony of a Nadal fan posting a comment like this...

Something clicked in nick this tournament, he went from getting rattled by the jeers and boos, to gaining energy and motivation from them like djokovic.

He won the tournament on principle the second he tried that drop serve against nadal with his stupid ROS positioning, and made him cry.

He won the moral victory over nadals time cheating.

And he won the actual tournament itself. The tournament trifecta doesn't happen often.

Brilliant. This is so Kyrgios. He basically did it for the sombrero...

He will not be so a threat for seeds players in R2 in IW.

It actually makes it worst for the top 8 seeds. Being unseeded meant he could land anywhere in the draw including the #9-16 so that he won't meet the top 8 until the 4th round, being seeded #32 now means he will meet #1-8 in the third round.

Again...I really can't tell if you're joking. Can someone else back me up here?

Nadal himself never makes excuses. it his his fans that makes excuses. Nadal always compliments his opponents after his loses. he won sportsmanship awards so many times, it is the proof

Loved Nick's reactions and general reinforced positivity in this final, if only he was this focused all the time. Awesome week, those forehand droppers were gold.

What a week for NK. He lifted his level and looks like he can be a serious contender this year. He's turning 24 in April, an age where a player has to start achieving and fulling his potential. This win and a couple of big wins over Nadal, Wawrinka and also Zverev should boost his morale and make him perform well consistently. I think he'll be a force at Wimbledon where he can just serve his way to the title. He can also do well on USO, but I think Wimbledon can be his best stage to showcase his potential and win his first slam.
Or he could float back down to Earth, this must feel like a slam victory with the level of opponent he had to face every round, yeesh. Hopefully he uses it as momentum tho, I like the guy.

Don't always love NK's antics. Drama queen. But tactically, loved the UH serve move. The way Rafa stands at the back barrier is just begging for someone to do it. Pros facing Rafa should be practicing that serve, seriously.
