It might just be more of the standard Kyrgios getting up for the big time matches. He fell far enough down the rankings to have to play three both extremely high quality and big name opponents in a row and we know how much he loves those matches. And up next yet another big scalp, Zverev. Can't remember the last time someone had to go through four former or current top 10 players to win a grand slam title, let alone a 500. Maybe Fed in AO17?
Khachanov did it when he won Paris last year. Tsitsipas had 5 top 10 opponents in Toronto.

AFAIK he never served faster than Roddick, and he's 10cm taller
Top speed ironically for both at DC’04 tie in Delray (plus 4 km for AR) but not against each other.

I don’t think AR’s technique will ever be duplicated to produce that kind of velocity. Pim Pim’s motion, especially his massive wrist pronation, can be mimicked a lot easier. You see short guys (Benjamin Becker, Berankis) getting relatively high speeds with technique more similar to JJ than AR. The other German Becker is the only other player I can remember to rock a serve at close to AR’s speed with similar technique.
