Medvedev does not care anymore I thinkActually Medvedev still has chances to be #2 if:
1) He beats Zverev in 2 (So Medvedev will be 3-4 in sets w/l, Zverev 2-4)
2) Tsitsipas beats Nadal in 2 or 3

Depends. If Zverev beats Medvedev in 2, Nadal is out in any case. If Zverev beats Medvedev in 3, Nadal has to straight-set Tsitsipas. If Ned beats Tsits and Zed beats Med, who qualifies?
The ones who have the best sets ratio. Or games ratio if that is tied too.If Ned beats Tsits and Zed beats Med, who qualifies?
Nadal is not beating Tsitsipas here. Of course suddenly Tsitsipas is not the hot garbage who showed up in Paris against Djokovic. Today he hit like 2 unforced errors or something. Wasn't missing anything...Actually Medvedev still has chances to be #2 if:

So 2) Tsitsipas beats Nadal? You didn't need to put "in 2 or 3"Actually Medvedev still has chances to be #2 if:

Nadal must beat the greek in 2If Ned beats Tsits and Zed beats Med, who qualifies?
Mostly because of the homogenization of surfaces. Slow courts don't favour aggressive attackers over grinders and defenders.Federer has more weapons than Novak or Rafa but they've still beat him a ton.
No, he's just got Zverev's number. He's beaten Zverev the past 4 meetings now.I had a meeting and missed the match. This looks to be a thrashing. Was Tsists that good?
You're obsessed with Djokovic, SR!!Nadal is not beating Tsitsipas here. Of course suddenly Tsitsipas is not the hot garbage who showed up in Paris against Djokovic. Today he hit like 2 unforced errors or something. Wasn't missing anything...
This is why this tournament is so pathetic. If Nadal beats Tsitsipas and still doesn't reach the semifinal he should never play it again.Depends. If Zverev beats Medvedev in 2, Nadal is out in any case. If Zverev beats Medvedev in 3, Nadal has to straight-set Tsitsipas.

It's great to play offensive tennis, but you need to be on all the time for it to work. Zverev and Medvedev can develop better B or C games and grind out a ton of wins on days when Stef isn't redlining.

Tsitsipas is through to the semis, but is not necessarily group winner.
After reading this threadSo wait, Nadal can only finish as group winner? He can't finish 2nd?

In the first 7 games both were close to perfect. Then Tsitsipas totally stopped missing while Zverev entered his tanking mode.So he was average and Zverev was terrible?
He played a smart, solid match. Read the 1st serve well, got on top of neutral points with better ball striking and initiative and was the much better net player. Zverev played a good opening 7 or so games. Got broken with three forehand UEs and a DF IIRC, then went downhill quickly. Looked pathetic at the end of the match, barely trying...So he was average and Zverev was terrible?

I don't think Medvedev is even going to try. So we can say Nadal is already out of the tournament.Typical for Zverev these days. I guess he came back down to earth. He should beat Medvedev though who has to be shattered after today. I don't see him winning a match here now.

Zed seems to play with a lot of vigor against the big 3 in best of 3 sets more often than not. As if he's trying to build his legacy off of beating the greatest players in history.Typical of Zed to raise level against Nadal and then fizzle out against Tsitsipas.
As long as he makes the semi.
Peak ZverevStefanos has been picking that 1st serve well, wonderful returning. Dude is destroying Zverev in these rallies, just spreading the court brutally, movement exposed...
Net points won
Stefanos - 19/20
Sasha - 6/17
Im totally wrongRight now:
Tsitsipas 4-0
Nadal: 3-3
Zverev 2-2
Nadal is out
- if he beats Tsitsipas in 3 & Zverev wins in 2
- if he loses to Tsitsipas in 2 or 3 & Zverev wins in 2 or 3
Im not sure im correct
Nadal also had his part done by losing easily to ZverevThis loser Zverev basically gifted Djokovic the YE#1 with today's pathetic performance.
It's so annoying that Zverev played great against Nadal and then was so pathetic against Tsitsipas. But it was fully expected. Not surprised at all.Nadal also had his part done by losing easily to Zverev

I’m totally confused. Looks like Medvedev HAS to beat Zverev for Nadal to have a chance.
Think the return and backhand need work. Perhaps 2nd serve too. That backhand cross court drive, while solid, is still loopy. If Tsitsipas improves his FH and makes it more lethal, we are looking at a future GS champion. He's got such a beautiful game. Reminds me a bit of young 2001-2002 Federer.
