Maybe, yeah, 3 finals lost. Nishikori lost 4 of those.
But @stringertom has a good point with Kyrgios as well!
I’d go with either or both young Canadians before their elder countryman. Félix is comfortable on all the M1K surfaces; Shapo may have to break through on HC. For Shapo, 3 SFs before turning 20, one on clay (but fast Madrid clay) is a decent start to competing at Tier 2. For Félix, a SF from qualifying at 18, 8 months is also strong. Both will benefit that there’s a M1K at home every year. Maybe one of these all-newbies finals there like tomorrow at M-C???

Yes, USO 2017 and 2018 were truly scintillating stuff. :unsure:o_O

Yea the Rafa- Thiem match was def trash. But I can see why a Fed Stan like yourself wouldn’t be too fond of the USO 18 night sessions. I’m sure that was a tough time in your life.:p:p:p

Nick name credits to @Meles .
I love it too lol.
That's what I call him all the time even on the phone with my Nadal loving friend. The dullard had the nerve to rip on Thiem after his loss to LaNot (who played out of his mind); had the pleasure of giving him blow by blow of The Fognini 5-0 lead and entire 2nd set over Nadal hehe.:sneaky:

Lajovic is basically a Thiem light version. Such mirror matchups tend to come down to execution and are typically very tricky/dangerous for the favorite in such matches. It's part of why Djoko struggles with solid, flat hitterse if he's bad.

Nadal and Bald Fraud don't really have such mirror matchups.

i thought we established that Santoro was Fed's mirror matchup?

Fed has a slightly better serve though

Fognini wins his maiden Masters 1000 title at the ripe old age of 31 (32 next month), the oldest player to do so since Isner (32) at 2018 Miami. In doing so he adds to his 8 other titles (1 at 500 level, 7 at 250 level) and becomes the first Italian player in history to win a Masters 1000 title, the 2nd player this season to win his maiden Masters 1000 title (after Thiem at Indian Wells) and becomes one of 18 current players who have won at least 1 of these titles!
