I didn't have any confidence in this pick either. The oddsmakers only made him a slight favorite. It was my gamble pick to try to save other players for the later rounds. Foolish strategy, as it turned out, but at least I have lots of company.

For me, it was a pick vs PCB, who barely qualified at Bastad against much inferior competition and then lost 1R there to Chardy before being just OK 1R here while Struff cruised.

Oh no doubt, the pick here was made basically because his rival was still having a hard time with his level, and thought that it was going to be enough for Struff to win. Wasn't expecting a straight set loss at all.

Thanks a lot. I was aware going into the tournament, that I had a decent chance. Once Londero lost, I knew Krish had lost his top spot. Struff took a lot of us out, so only Aussie Darcy was in contention if he got the win and 500 points. That possibility ended today, so I will limp my way to No. 1.

My reign at the top will be very short-lived, as I have too many points to defend in the next tournament, and generally too many points to defend the rest of the season. I'll be the Patrick Rafter of SDL.
