Alex looks good here - is he really that good or is it because Simon is not playing well? Looks like Alex has plenty of patience rallying before he pulls the trigger - even out-rallying Simon who usually plays like a wall.

Simon isn't even on the court at the moment. His average first serve speed has been 140kph. That's 87mph. For a first serve. He has absolutely no energy and he's playing a grinder two days before one of the four biggest tournaments of the year.

Just as a reference, at the Australian Open last year Simon's average first serve speed through all his matches was 115mph.

How hard do you think he's trying?

Didn't watch his grinder match - against who? Yes, I saw one of his 1st serve earlier was clocked at 65mph!! I thought my streaming was slow, and just realized that it was clocked at 105km/h only.

Is Simon going to be able to complete the match? Looks to be running on fumes at the moment. It seems to be something a bit beyond his normal laconic, low-key body language.

He's not even split stepping at this point but that's all just thanks to very clever play from De Minaur who has decided to occasionally hit the ball away from Simon.

To not be able to quickly put away an opponent who relies entirely on their footspeed and is as tired as I've ever seen a someone on the court is just unacceptable.

And then the roar  have some f**king perspective, you child.

De Minaur not being able to finish the points quickly is really going to cost him.
Should get him used to playstyle though.
Seppi plays kinda like a taller Simon. Slower but more power and aggressiveness.
If De Minaur isn't redlining, I think Seppi can hit him off the court.

They barely tapped the ball in that last game, but that's just too good from De Minaur!

*Australian commentator voice*

Alex pushes the ball waiting for an error: "That's just really smart, calculated play from De Minaur. He's working the point well at the moment."

Seriously, when did commentating become less about communicating minutia of the game and more about spin doctoring what's on screen?

Simon probably couldnt wait to get off court and go to Melbourne. I saw that 105km/h first serve and couldn't believe my eyes. What's more unbelievable was Alex wasnt able to take advantage and hit many winners over those slow servers. Simon actually held that game. Didn't watch 2nd set

De Minaur is making Seppi look like Del Potro. Commentators talking about how tough it will be for Alex tonight against a player of this 'calibre'. Is that a subtle admission that world no. 29 De Minaur hasnt faced that many players inside the top 40? The world no. 37 is proving too much for him at the moment.

These opening four games have been amazing, surreal ball striking on display...

Long games, 27 minutes played, Seppi looking to prolong his lead for 3-1.

ADM hasn't yet beaten a Top 20 player. Someone ranked 37 would be a decent scalp for him.

Yeah the commentators have over dramatised Alex this week, but you can't play down how well Seppi has played this week.

de Minaur-Seppi 7:5
Seppi turned away two of de Minaur's SPs in 12th game of 1st set, but on Alex's third SP he placed FH in the net and Alex won the first set!

Along with the other match stats, I can tell you De Minaur is averaging one 'Come on' per eight points.

Annoying.

It loses it's humor when the quality is outstanding. A low first serve percentage is probably the only thing Seppi can improve on.

You don't like De Minaur because of commies or his game?

A combination of being an extremely scrambly, grinding player, celebrations after unforced errors that would seem more fitting for actually winning the match, and on top of all that the Commentators.

You might not think it's so bad, but in Australia I don't just have to suffer this kind of blind patriotic fervor during his matches. Every tv break I get to watch Adobe after effects videos of De Minaur shouting while his racquet catches fire. The entirity of the Australian media is shoving this kid down my throat 24/7, talking about him like he's not only a future world no. 1, but already the most exciting thing in tennis. It's enough to make anyone sick.

Seppi ~1700m today, De Minaur ~ 4100m ran today (over 2 matches). Hopefully no jelly legs near the end of the match for Alex.
