Zverev just likes to be given everything. When Raonic didn't give up after after Zverev broke him in the first game he gave up himself.

And Zverev is the only one from next generation that has done remotely anything in his career ;) that alome tells you how pathetic is next generation.

Khachanov has a Masters so he has done something. Tsitsipas got to Canada final beating 4 top 10 players. Coric made his 1st Masters final and got a chance to go further this tournament. They made some strides last year and I think will improve more this year. Tsitsipas is improving rapidly.

I find all the ragging on younger players annoying and not very productive. The big 3 won't be around forever and we need to build up our new champions for the future of this great sport!

None has made a slam semi yet or done anything. Untill they do something i'm not gonna believe in them. i need to see it first , people said same about lost gneration mugs.

I agree. It's just too bad. I'm desperately looking for the next player I can be a fan off, once Fedal retire (which is probably happening sooner than we think).
I wanted that guy to be Zverev, but he keeps disappointing. I had originally thought he would be future #1 with several slams. Now I am not sure. Also don't see anyone else with potential.
Perhaps it is Tpisitsas.
You don't have to be a fan of the most successful player, you like who you like sometimes I can't stand the players at the top and sometimes I like them...

I guess you didn't see last year's semifinal;) Nadal lost even though he played better and choked in tiebreak and couldn't convert something like 5 bps in 5th.

Nadal wasn't the better player. They were even..
nadal didn't choke the TB.
djokovic saved most of those BPs. could only fault Nadal for a not so great approach shot on one of them.
Nadal also saved MP with a brilliant dropshot

Nadal played great even though indoor conditions were not exactly in his favour.
Maybe you should get a clue before BSing.

the only time nadal was mentally affected by 'Djokovic' itis in slams was in 11.

he beat djokovic comfortably in RG 12 final
beat djokovic from a break down in RG 13 semi 5th set with some great tennis.
it was djokovic who crumbled in USO 13 final
it was djokovic who went down in RG 14 final as well.

You will see that happen this year in my opinion. Maybe even this tournament. Tsitsipas has been playing well and so has Coric.

Coric, Medvedev, Tiafoe and Tsitsipas are still in this tournament and we don't know how far they will go.

Then we also have Nishikori, Raonic, Carreno Busta, Pouille, and Bautista Agut still in the tournament and again we don't know how far they will go.

Only 2 big 3 players left this year, and yes, they may very well be the finalists, but we don't know yet.

Simply because Zverev didn't bother to show up for this match doesn't mean that all is lost with the younger players or players who have yet to win a slam

Lmao against Any other player Nadal would've not wasted 5 bps to win one break. in tiebreak Nadal could've hit fth in open court on set poin but he played cross court out of fear. may be you should start watching natches carefully. he even had set point on bis own serve in TB. go watch it again.

Is there any other similar case to a young promising player that people used to talk so much and he felt so much pressure that he went on to win no slams?
I know people talked a lot about Gasquet when he was young, but I'm not sure he was ever a bet of anyone to win slams.

Gasquet?
Tsonga?
Haas?

Idk

It’s rare to hear a complaint that the agent/PR/sponsor hype machine wasn’t doing enough.

Zverev and his passive tennis during grand slam play..... Zverev would benefit from on court coaching, maybe next year at the AO 2020 ;)

Has anyone ever asked him why this keeps happening with him? If he loses this match, which seems likely, I hope they ask him in his press conference. It's frustrating that he implodes like this at Grand Slam tournaments and he needs to be called out on it.

I love how Raonic (and his fans) think he's some sort of genius tactician for hitting floaty slices that Zverev implodes on. Fact is, Zverev gets up for the big players but gets nervous in slams. Raonic isn't a big player, and it's a slam, so this is the result. Low interest and high anxiety = disaster for Zverev. Raonic is doing nothing but getting lucky that a far more talented player is having mental issues at the moment.
