I don't know really. Her draw is tough but she plays better when she has a tough draw to me. I think her sister may do the dirty work for her and end Halep, and then she will send her sister home, have Muguruza or Pliskova in the QF, Osaka in the SF. Of those players, I could see Osaka beating her again but I doubt Serena loses to her 3 times in a row if that match happens.
I actually have Serena/Yastremska as an upset alert. Yastremska is fearless. I describe her as a Svitolina with Sharapova-like power. Should be a good test for both.

I've never seen her play so I have no idea. Lol. I would be shocked at that result though.

Ya, Naomi was stumbling over her own feet until 5-7 1-4. Sascha dropped the ball on this if he didn't tell her to just play her game. Just know that there will be lots of short and odd balls, but play her game and Naomi would win this easly 3 and 2, or at worse 5 and 4. Like that game closing out set2. EZ PZ.

Variety is always nice and the spice of life, and I want Hsieh to do well on tour, but not against Naomi-chan! :p
What makes her think differently and ends up winning 12 out of 13 games cause I didn't watch.

Always crazy how Zhang does well at slams now after having never won a main draw match in her entire career before beating Halep in the 1R of the Aus Open in 2016 en route to the QF. Now has made the 3R twice at the USO and once at the French. She had lost 14 consecutive 1R matches at slams before that 2016 Aus Open.
it proves for most WTA players it might just be a mindset game ;)

It's become cool to compare Svitolina and Zverev, but Svitolina doesn't have anywhere near the upside on her tour that Zverev has on his.

My pre tournament draw for Naomi

R1: Linette
R2: Gavrilova
R3: Azarenka/Hsieh
R4: Sevastova
QF: Svitolina (Mertens/Cibulkova)
SF: Halep or Pliskova
F: Kerber (Wozniacki/Kvitova/Sabalenka)

She can get through Sevastova but after that if she meets her best friend Zhang she might not be able to beat her. Same thing as in Beijing QF where she lost.

Male commentator really not happy about the injury timeout in the middle of the game that Svitolina took in set 2.

Female commentator is defending her saying oh you’re assuming it’s a fake injury timeout. Like clearly it is... they just showed the footage and Svitolina looked fine.

She's top10 material IMO, and only 18yo. AO19 is her 2nd slam MD appearance, with 1R-2R being her first 2 wins.

Thru her first two rounds she:

1R vs Stosur, went 2-5 down against Stosur in set1, then won in straights allowing Stosur just 2 more games....all in front of Stosur's home crowd! And Stosur has powah!

2R vs Navarro, easly won set1, went up a break in set2 then choked it away, then composed herself and almost bageled Navarro in set3.

Serena/Yastremska should be good.

It has the potential to be good and I hope it is, but that second set against Navarro worried me a bit. She is still so young and inexperienced she wasn't even taking some time to breathe. She was serving with 15, 16 seconds in the clock, it was so fast!

I have to see her play but not surprising to see Stosur have another collapse. Her best days are behind her. Beating Navarro is an impressive win though.
