Who the heck is Collins? I mean I googled her and found out, but really hadn't seen her before. She really has no results to speak of on tour and now she's running Kerber ragged and blowing through her. Seems like she told herself, "I can play like Kvitova." Impressive.

For those of you who don't know Danielle, consider yourself fortunate. She is a generally nasty person with a bad attitude on court and off. Her teammates at UVa called her Queen *****. I know there are some UVa supporters on this forum that can confirm what I've posted.

Nevertheless, she is a helluva tennis player, as she is demonstrating to the world.

I believe you. I don't normally dislike brashness - in fact I find it likable to some degree -but here it's off the walls. Bad vibe off that girl.

Still, as you say, clearly a talented player.

That was like two fighters. Except one has been up for 8 hrs drinking coffee. And just woke up the other fighter and punched the living crap out of her.

Typical UGLY American behavior,,,,no manners.,,,, Collins yells Cmon at the face of Kerber........

be careful the super PC powers dont allow any criticism of players these days, I made my own Acronym for DoperPova and got told not to use it and I never wrote what the W stood for which was Woman. Its getting quite ridiculous and over the top.

and I agree Collins from what ive seen in the past is a despicable foul specimen on the diminshing ladies in the tour

Just wished Angie played that bad vs Hsieh last year!, Hsieh gets so much anger her way from these ugly things
her fine touch and unique tennis even sent Aga to retirement. Hsieh receives the coldest handshakes on the tour.

Okay after post interview I know why I don't like her.

I prefer Coco over her.

I really really don’t like CoCo her attitude and sportsmanship suck. I’ve seen her on more than one occasion be rude to ball boys/girls and she lacks respect for the chair umpires.

Collins seems to be enjoying this moment for all it’s worth. Again, I don’t know much about her, but obviously her game is speaking volumes for her. It’ll be interesting to see how far she goes.

How come you didn't hear about her before today? She made a lot of noice with her deep run at the Miami open last year.

Why, yes, she's cocky but it's nice to see the player with the full extension and elegant follow through strokes win once in a while. And while Kerber isn't openly cocky, she's a sore loser too, so doesn't matter either way.

Enjoyed Barty's win, then had to get some sleep. Boggling at Kerber's defeat. Not sure why Collins has such a bad rap. She seems ambitious, determined, and confident to me. What has she said or done to earn so much dislike?

Pavlyuchenkova can't dwell on this missed chances, she's been the best player in this match for quite some time. Gotta keep it up.

She doesn't pretend her success is some serendipitous accident for which she should be thankful to God, is the problem as far as I can tell. MAYBE she was unpleasant in college tennis but I can only judge by what I see in these conferences. And she absolutely embraces her abrasiveness, not like she's pretending to be someone else.

Friends I'm here to help. Danielle Collins is someone you want to root for. Here's why. Grew up playing public courts in Florida. Dad your basic gardener type. Mom a teacher. Rougher 'round the edges than almost all the other tour players. She's got some Tonya Harding in her. The first time I saw her was last year Indian Wells. At first, I was, like, whoa. But, give it time. She'll grow on you in a good way. Someone mentioned Coco. Coco raised in the snootiest of families. And she couldn't (despite having one of the best ever female serves) be more unlikable. Embrace the new Tonya. Breath of fresh air in what is always an interesting WTA.

A lot of people have a problem with ambitious, determined, and confident women. Some people don’t even like it in men! I think it’s great that she is owning her achievements (with credit to her coaches) and thinking positive about her future. All she said was that she would win more slam matches in the future. It ain’t bragging if it’s true. Hard to imagine a scenario where she never ever makes it through the early rounds of a slam again (and if that can happen, then there’s always a chance for more).
