Well Her Demon's mustache did not get him over the line this week like in Atlanta.

James Blake: "I don't think people give Roger credit for being as incredibly fast as he is. When I played him, his speed was very underrated, and he's still faster than any of the younger guys today, at 38."
That's a bit too much. Speed isn't better than any young guys.
Footwork on the other hand, still is, and that too miles better

I just realized Fed is not that far away from Nadal and Djokovic in ranking points. 1700 behind Djokovic, 3000 behind Nadal.

If somehow the stars align Fed could be no 1 after Australia, it's really a tournament or 2 of a difference.

Even just Australia, if Federer wins and Nadal/Djokovic both lose early that's like a 3500-4000 point swing.
That's because he is playing his best tennis. Peak Fredi is a beast.

So Federer completes "Der Zehnte" in his hometown following a similar achievement at Halle earlier in the season and is the only active player other than Nadal to win this number of titles at multiple tournaments.

He wins his 103rd title (6 short of Connors' all time record), 10th in Basel, 4th this season, 3rd at 500 level this season (after Dubai and Halle) and 24th at ATP500 level overall (3 clear of Nadal at the top of the list of current players who have won titles at this level).

I can't find words. The man was putting the ball where he wanted, be it top spin BH, slice BH, high on the net inside out FH (plenty of those), flat forehands, sitters, half volleys, volleys, and also drive volleys!!

I mean that 40 shot rally, even if Roger lost that point, was simply amazing. De Minaur was just putting on the other side crosscourt, with his one-vision DHBH, and it was Roger that was mixing it up, higher ball, slices, spin changes, angles variations, running around to hit insideout FH. He was just so focused on his chances on that point. The Maestro is the Maestro.

He made De Minaur go crazy!

What a tourney for Fed. He demolished his opponents. It was incredible. Sometimes, Fed can play almost as well as he did in 2015; despite his loss of foot speed and fast twitch muscles. I couldn’t be happier as a fan.

Fed has spoiled us fans over the years. He will not hit his 2012 level again, let alone 2004-2006. That’s all a given and I don’t even hope for Fed to hit those levels again, let alone expect it like some of us fans do. But his game is still beautful. And we fans need to appreciate this current level from Fed, since it could leave permanently on a dime.

This was a great win for Fed. Any is a bonus.

Congrats to Fed for doing a fantastic job. I had a blast watching this tourney.
