Have you ever once considered that Fognini is simply a tough match-up for him and it's not just some random mental block?
No, because Fognini is an absolute mug when it comes to matches against other top players, especially against Federer and Djokovic. If such a bad player is a bad matchup for a winner of 18 slams then he have an even bigger problem here.

You do understand that Fed, Djoker and Rafa don't play the same right, hence the match up is different, right?

Tennis is a sport of match-ups. What works against Nadal won't work against Federer and vice versa.

The way I see it, Rafa feeds Fabio the kind of length that allows Fabio to hit his shots. Federer and Djokovic does not. Still Rafa leads 11-4 vs. Fabio.

A few errors from Nadal and he lost the game. He really needed that second break. I don't trust him to hold serve to be honest.

Yes, and I can understand if you have a difficult matchup against a top player. Fognini is not even close to being a top player though.
He's a top 10 player who plays an uber aggressive game. When it works, it really works.

Same reason Wawrinka has had so much success against Novak (but less so against Federer & Nadal).

That's my boy! What an overhead.

I see your point but Wawrinka is not Fognini, come on. Also, he at least can trouble Federer and Nadal a bit, even if he doesn't beat them often.

Fognini should give Nadal a taste of his own medicine; take a 20-minute break between sets. :)

Would be nice to watch this match, tc is showing the fat doper :(

Is this on a euro channel?

I still expect Nadal to lose this match to be honest. He will start making more unforced errors again. But at least he showed he can play better.
