they have some similar but not exactly the same type of arrangement in ATP too, if a lower ranked player did exceptionally well in Beijing or Tokyo and went deep to semi or final and would not be able to play qualis at Shanghai, they would receive a WC direct entry to the main draw.

I like Andreescu's chances against Osaka. More organised footwork, much better drops and netplay and basically a more organised game built on strong defence. Osaka is more liable to get impatient. Also, Osaka can be spectacular on her day and spray the next whereas Andreescu's B game is solid. And from her muted celebration after beating Brady, she is even starting to get used to the winning feeling. So that makes her even more dangerous. Wouldn't count Osaka out but looks like the betting men have picked the right horse here.

But at this moment in time, unable as we are to know the future, Osaka-Andreescu seems like a significant matchup.

I'm in 2 minds... Osaka is looking to be on form for the first time since AO, having gone MIA thereafter. Bianca is still more consistent though, so I guess that means the game is on Osaka's racket to an extent. I think they'll both be aware that fans and the media will have their eyes on this match, and they're also both building toward the YEC so I can't see them not being keen to win the title here as it's a massive tournament.
