I don't doubt for a second that he would've done this even if it was the old format and needing to play a best of 5 matches throughout the year.

But an extra 1 week Bo3 tourny wasn't exactly some huge commitment. That's why they changed the format.

It can deffo still be a good event after the change especially if they smooth out the rough edges they have right now.

But the true epicness of the old Davis Cup is gone for sure.
