Battle Ultron vs. Zod, Chapter 5

First confrontation at the Grand Slam level between Ultron (world number one and ATG player) and Zod (leader of Next Gen). Will Ultron continue successfully to reach on the way for its second NCYGS, or will Zod reach SF participation for GS tournaments for the first time?
 
Djoko in 2 sets and one break up in the third , zverev will break so many racquets out of frustration through the match , he will not have more racquets to play.

Dear Lord, and then they call Fed’s fans handwringerers. Only Rafa has an easier QF, but not by much.

I know you are trying to pump up the current competition to suit your agenda, but there is simply no way to do it. The current no. 5 is the poster boy for how deeply embarrassing this tennis era really is.

No pumping up here just telling how I feel. Zverev usually ups his game against the top guys and as I said he will go into this with a different game cause he knows he can't stand far back and get pushed around by Djokovic. He has that heaviness in his game aswell that could trouble Djokovic. Thats why I said Djoko will have to stay focused to play well, needs to be patient aswell, then he should win. But if he goes into this sloppy he will fight an uphill battle cause Zverev will punish it.

Ok, I agree Zverev in principle has the game to trouble Nole, but his form is ridiculous. I feel it might be a beating similar to the one Z received from Raonic at Melbourne. All Zverev has right now is a high ranking, but his game is very, very far from a Top 5 player.
 
This is fascinating match! Can Zverev step up in a major QF and make breakthrough. Or will Djoko assert his authority and just power on in seek of the big prize of a double career slam and 2nd Novak slam. Djoko is going to have to beat 2 talented next generation stars to get to the final. We know Djoko has sometimes found the next gen tough in masters matches. However, this is a slam and Novak is a different beast in BO5. I think this will be a tough one but I picking Novak in 4 sets!

Djokovic is in imperious form and if Djokovic comes in with a good attitude, has patience (not getting upset at missing BPs etc), is focused he should win it. Zverev shouldn't be tough for Novak right now but I can see that happening if Zverev is inspired and Djokovic is not in a good mood. Zverev is a really good player, we forget what he has accomplished already.

Well, at least it is not Djokovic-Fognini. That one would be a total disaster and there would be no doubts about it being a disaster. Djokovic-Zverev will probably be a beatdown as well but at least we know that Zverev theoretically has the game to trouble Djokovic, so if somehow he can find his game then it might be a bit interesting.

Have you actually watched any of Zverev matches? If you did, you would not be saying that.
He barely looks like a top 20 player out there.
Fognini actually might have put a better fight vs Djokovic, just because he can get hot sometimes.
Djoko-Zverev will be a bloodbath.
 
Zverev played much better today. He was much more aggressive on 2nd serves and won a ton of points. In previous matches, other players were teeing off on his 2nd serves.

If Zverev can serve as well against Djoker as he did today, then he'll have his chances. Zverev played great today, unlike the other matches. I see this happening in the quarters against Djoker as well. However, Djoker is nearly unbeatable in the 5th set. He's way too clutch. I'm taking Djoker in 5 sets.
 
This will be a tough one. Sascha raises his game for the big battles. Novak was probably hoping for Fognini to come through today.
 
Yes Djoker is the favorite BUT - -
Sasha has played well AND
has zero pressure AND
has beaten Nole . . . so MIGHT be interesting if he can step up and go for his shots

They totally have a beef, can't stand each other :p But I do believe Zverev this time. Most of the media attention was focused on Tsitsipas' great first half of the year to call out Zverev for his lack of form. Things would've been so much worse if no other Next Gen had stepped up.

He can play much better tennis than this. Of course he’s struggled at slams so far, but the Masters and WTF wins show where he can be.
He’s playing pants at the moment and has been lucky to get this far. I think i’m one of the very few that hopes he gets somewhere near his best again soon. Tour needs the competition.

It was the same at WTF. Coming in, he lost to Khachanov (6-2 6-1), Copil, Djokovic (6-2 6-1), Jaziri ... and yet he defeated Federer and Djokovic back to back to win the title. Absolutely top players(top 5) can win any match - Zverev - like him or not, is a top 5 player.


Djokovic's easy draw can come back bite him if Sasha is capable of rising the intensity.

Yeah I bet that worked out well when he beat Djokovic at the WTF last year and that was Djokovic in a good form post Wimbledon/USO. Djokovic has problems against him compared to Nadal. He won't be taking Zverev easy and Zverev would feel confident against him.
