Looks like saturday could be a washout too. He needs to not wreck himself for wimbledon like 2016! Wimbledon and us open are more important! I am worried now!!!!

I agree, as he has much better chances there. His grass and hard court game is still better. Plus better scheduling and the roof is massive at Wimbledon especially too!

I agree I’m slightly worried but also very confident seeing Novak in great form. What a turnout from this time a year ago!

It is unreal. What a great bunch of matches. Fed vs stan stan vs the greek thiem vs khacanov djokovic vs zverev.
The best tho was nadal vs nishikori! Brutal match!

It’s been a great tournament and still lots to look forward too still!
Just hope the rain does not mess the matches all up. Nadal is in the drivers seat. If djokovic had his qf done already id have more confidence now. Like you said he needs to not kill himself here. He has a chance to win 3 majors this year no need to get 4 in a row and then be wrecked for the last two. Esp wimbledon. But he is different now than in 2016 and he is not injured too.

81% of posters predicted a Djokovic win, and some (like in this thread) were very dismissive in their comments:

"Joe in two breadsticks."

"Novak in 1."

"Zed to get dismantled."

"Anyone other than Novak fans planning on watching the beatdown?"

"Instead of losing 6-4, 6-1 (the RR score), he'll lose 6-1 6-4."

"Zverev is incredibly overrated and I expect Novak to give him a thorough thrashing."

"Question should be how many games will the pup win."

Exactly, who cares if he hasn't won a slam or anything. That's got nothing to do with Zverev and Djokovic matches.

That's like writing a Big 3 member would pipe Kyrgios when they clearly wouldn't, regardless of the amount of things the Big 3 have won. It has no factor.

That said I still predict a Djokovic win in 4 but it won't be easy as everyone is making it out here.

Most interesting match of the tournament. Nadal is a foregone conclusion in the other half (with Wawa a shade of his former self and Fed not a serious contender on clay) but this half is loaded. I give all 3 of Thiem, Z and Djoko a good chance at reaching final.

Z goes 5 sets vs Millman&Lajovic.
Fed beats a considerably better Wawrinka (compared to Millman&Lajovic) in 4 sets.
Z hasn't made a single slam semi yet.

But Z is a big threat to Djoko and Fed sucks on clay. Got it.

You seriously think the Z has a chance against Novak? Even Thiem - who is not even playing as well as last year - does not have a chance. KK might be a bit of surprise element, but maybe win a set at best.
I'd say Djokovic is a foregone conclusion in the final from that half.

With Fed vs Nadal - it could go either way coz Nadal lost the last 5 matches, including 3 in straight sets. That has to have mental scars.

Shades of 2015 in terms of everything being stacked against Nole. Except in 2015, Nadal was not the one to benefit...
I remember first two sets against Murray it was like this is the year. Then all of a sudden he hit that french open wall. Nervous fidgety uncomfortable. He put it together in that final set. But he was not the same player got defensive.

I know Nadal is on a losing streak vs Fed but hey, it is RG we're talking about. I expect a revenge of the century bloodbath  (worse than 2008, poor Fed)
Novak is a good matchup for Z. He's beaten him on clay and on hard (in 2 of Novak's best events no less). You think that means nothing? I disagree. Maybe not vs the best Novak but enough to take Z seriously.
And how can you say Thiem has no chance when he's already beaten Novak at RG? (and is the only player other than Djoko with recent multiple wins on clay vs Rafa). Doesn't mean Djoko can't do it of course but ridiculous to claim it's a foregone conclusion.

Djokovic did have it tough in 2015 RG. But not everything was against him.
1. he could've lost the semi vs Murray if he had played in the hot conditions that Stan-Tsonga played in.
2. Nadal played cr*p in their QF.

LOL @ people underestimating Zverev itt

Yeah I bet that worked out well when he beat Djokovic at the WTF last year and that was Djokovic in a good form post Wimbledon/USO. Djokovic has problems against him compared to Nadal. He won't be taking Zverev easy and Zverev would feel confident against him.
Good post. And I would add that it's an even taller order for Novak on clay than on indoor hard. He'd better be ready for a tough one (but I'm sure he knows that).

If Zverev serves like he did in the first set of the WTF finals he has a good chance, but he must keep it up the whole match. But i hope Djokovic finishes him

During the match I thought Murray was suffering in the hot conditions much more than Djokovic did. Murray only started playing a bit better in the end of the third set when it wasn't so hot anymore. (he probably liked the lower bounce more)

It is sasha's time. Novak doesnt' have a chance tomorrow.

Will be interesting to see how Zverev plays in a slam match where he isn't the favourite. Stll think Novak will take care of business here, in 4 sets at most. I think Theim/Kachanov might be the tougher hurdle for him, in addition to weather/idiotic scheduling.
