Djokovic had a clown draw. Thiem was the first actual legit opponent that he faced. And he lost. And Thiem likewise had to deal with bad conditions otherwise he'd have been even tougher for Novak to handle. Especially looking at the score stats and realizing how many tense situations Djokovic was forced in and having to fend off numerous breakpoints. When Djokovic does NOT win FO he wins the other 3 slams. Remember what happened in 2016 after F.O win. And what happened in 2018 without F.O.
To me, there is no doubt, that unless something drastic happens, Novak is winning Wimbledon and UsOpen. He's just better than everyone else.
IT took the crappiest conditions, and a peak Thiem to stop Novak on the Serb's worst surface. And even then the match went to 5 sets and Novak almost won.
Plus, Wawrinka is back in form. Tsitsipas and Thiem are hungry for Slams, and several other young guys are making in roads. I don't know where I stand on Zverev just yet but I think we might see him finally get it together by the autumn hardcourts.
