Last match was a shocker as milman took down roger at 2018 USO R16 4-6 7-5 7-6 7-6 even after the swiss was a set up & had 2 set points in 2nd set at 5-4 on his own serve. Milkman milked the suffering goat very well under the humid hot Arthur Ashe stadium.
How'll this match turn out to be??
Will roger get revenge?? (Revenge = 6-0 6-1)

The strange thing about that loss is that I cannot even say what Millman did especially good that day. Normally I can clearly name it for any (bigger) Federer loss.

But with Millman, I don’t even remember if he served great or if he just pushed everything back or whatever. I only remember tons of Federer errors.

On topic: Federer will get his revenge in 2, but with a normal score like 6-3 6-4.

Federer had 80+ unforced errors IIRC..
The worst ever slam match he's played since 2013 USO loss to robredo

By coincidence, just as in 2013, this was the match before a possible meeting with another Big3 member, who’s currently in form.

Tankerer in 2. ;)
By coincidence, 10 meeting between those 2 have taken place in the worst ever spans of fed's career
5 meetings in 2013-early14
5 meetings in 2008-early09

Whereas only 1 meeting in nadal's worst ever career span
1 meeting in 2015-early16

Tankdal in 0..

That loss was simple to explain. Federer overheated, and got caught off guard when his body physically betrayed him because it hadn’t happened to him before. As we get older, the warning lights come on sooner than they used to.

Not necessarily. Sometimes the committee seeds a player higher than his actual ranking if he has played well at Wimbledon in the past and if a player ranked above him hasn't. Based on their form at Wimbledon in recent years, the current world no. 3 could this year be seeded no. 2 for Wimbledon, above the current world no. 2, regardless of how the former does in Halle this week.

What does Federer have to do to be seeded 2nd at Wimbledon? Win the whole event?

How obnoxious and what loser are some Nadal fans, having to come to a Fed match thread and try to hijack it with their idol and something completely irrelevant to diminish the GOAT, when their favourite just won #12 and #18. Even such achievement is not enough to make them happy

Back to the match, it seems Fed alwaysmplays Millman tough. Millman is just such a push and never gives any point away. I remember my first ever live tennis match, with Fed no less is his 2015 Brisbane opener against Millman. My that match killed many healthy cells in me. Hopefully on grass Fed will be really aggressive and take time away from him. Should be straights.

LOL, in 2008-2009 it was prime Federer, though probably not peak. The comparison to 2015 Nadal is hilarious.

Theres a reason Roger asked Millman to be his off season practice partner a while back. The guy is a brick wall and gets everything back and loaded with more spin than other brick wall type players.

They used to have a seeding committee which could override the rankings, but that hasn’t been the case since 2002. I can’t see any way they’d override the seeding formula.

Millman played very solid and got zoned in when he realized Federer was gona have a heart attack or something in the other end. He looked like he was about to step out of time.

Hey I was there too! Couldn’t believe Fed dropped the first set, then he seemed to get grumpy with himself and lifted his game! It was his first match after a long break as I recall. With no more Hopman cup maybe he’ll play Brisbane again?

He might opt to play ATP Cup if Stan is playing too. But who knows? Yeah good question- what will be his AO warmup without Hopman??

Roger trying to hit powerful strokes from the baseline is a good plan. His game will be sharp when the second week of Wimbledon will start.
