Win or lose, I just love watching him play. It sucks, but it's all a part of it.
Fed is the opposite of the doll Nadal he smiles in defeat and cries and victory
Credit to @Meles for being confident in this outcome despite the basic fact that Thiem just won twice as many matches in one tournament than he had all season. It was very hard to believe that that could happen to end fedr’s nine match win streak.Yeah I thought he looked pretty good. I'll acknowledge that Thiem was able to play more powerfully than Federer but it doesn't mean Federer was toothless and unable to attack. You were negative the whole thread though along with most other Freddos. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
He might win 5, but calling it only 5 is disrespectful of how much effort it will take him to win those 5.
That got deletedlol. Someone should post that video with the Novak/Nadal handshakes pre and post 2011.
Novak is the only big 3 member who is graceful in defeat.

what is fed's ranking now, 5? well i guess he can only more or less make up points from here on out. maybe the goal is to win wimbledon this year w/o winning IW, who knows.
Yep, tomorrow we’ll all be just fine.Win or lose, I just love watching him play. It sucks, but it's all a part of it.

They've always been decent in 1000's and below, they need to translate it into the majors though, and I've been saying that for 3 years already. Any day now.

Exactly.
It’s not like he’s being soundly and fairly beaten. He’s literally choking them away.
It’s one thing when Fed loses playing freely the entire match (like in last year’s IW final). But it’s another when you can visibly see he has lost belief by the end and is making terrible decisions like those two drop shots when a very makeable forehand would have won the point. Today’s loss is reminiscent of some of his losses against Nadal and Djokovic from year’s past. He fought, yes, but it was very clear Fed was the one who blinked at the end. And that kind of loss comes back to haunt you. I almost feel like Fed needs another injury break like he did in 2H 2016 because these close losses are adding up and eating away at his psyche.Exactly.

That's rightThat is the most important thing, isn't it?
Win or lose, he delivers.
Onto Miami now.

Fed was very gracious loser I must say
That's right.
It's not like he hasn't given us anything to ever cheer for before.
Just because Federer didn't lose in 2 it doesn't mean he choked the match away. He didn't play his best for sure, made mistakes on important points, but overall Thiem was the better player in the 3rd. Clearly better from the baseline, solid with serve and at the net.Exactly.

No, #4.If Fed had won, would he have moved to #2?
No, he would be #4, the place Thiem has taken now.If Fed had won, would he have moved to #2?
It's huge for Thiem though, securing a top 4 seed for the first tournaments of the clay season, perhaps even RGYep Thiem takes over as #4. Doesn't affect seedings for Miami since Rafa withdrew. At least Fed has defended his points and rankings wise only way is up from here.
Thiem now leads Fed in their H2H, 3-2, to add insult to injury.

The club will have more members soon.I think only a hew have superior H2H against Fed.
Rafa, Djok?, and now Thiem.![]()
That's the spirit True Fan!Now I'm going to eat dinner, play with my kids, and make love to my wife lol.
See y'all tom.
Pretty great match imo. Fed's obviously been way better than this, but I've definitely seen him play far worse and get away with wins lately. Worrying thing is that he brainfarts short bits every match and this time Thiem broke him twice.

Thiem was not clearly better in the 3rd. He won his only break point and that was the difference.

Fed was regularly on the back foot though. He isn’t getting enough credit for how well he toughed things out by some of my fellow Fed fans, largely because they can’t see through the tears...
You surely deserve it.I just received a SEXSTORSION email:
https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/ne...tating-they-have-video-of-you-on-adult-sites/
this guy sure must be a FED fan!!!
oh man, where they get these ideas?
you are so cool! do you know that there are people on earth that are naive enough to pay that amount? You surely deserve it.

In the last year we have had Zverev at Madrid, Khachanov at Paris, Zverev at WTF and Thiem at IW. It should be clear now that this newer generation are coming into their own. I actually think tennis is in a decent place now compared to a year ago, and good to see these young players stepping up now.
