He swept the field? That’s hilarious because he played the easiest weakest draw possible in a 1000.

This doesn't make sense. Fed had e 3 times GS winner on path to begin. Edmund and Hurkacz who got rid of Nishi, Shapo and Puoille, só it's a guy that knows how to play tennis.

Federer is just too inconsistent from the ground these days. It’s almost like every time he has to hit a groundstroke you’re surprised it goes over the net. Thiem on the other hand was crushing forehands at will.
That’s just how Federer is in the last 5-6 years. Like other people have said, it’s how he’s decided to play. When it’s good he’s brilliant but when he’s off he can’t time a single shot well. It drove me insane in the 2014-2016 period when he seemed to always have off days in GS finals, but now that he has won a couple again I’ve learned to accept it and take the good with the bad.

Federer will have too much variety for the kid I feel. Like tennisaddict said, he'll have to mix it up like he did against Stan.

He'll win in 2 if he does that IMO. Still not convinced the match actually means that much for Thiem even if he wins though, and it obviously doesn't mean all that much for Federer (he's won a load of these as it is). Don't see it translating to a slam win any time soon for Thiem tbh. I only hope Federer wins because I don't rate Thiem on a HC.
....

Ye he does sadly, may have add some of the weakest opponents in route, but whatever. It's obvious who had the tougher draws
"Guest" lmfao
why does everyone have a borked account these days, cant wait for some other extant discerning analysts of lawn tennis to morph into "Deleted Member 42069" after a slam final weekend

So I probably shouldn’t take the bait, but I will.

I’m genuinely curious, what’s the issue with
what I said? Is it just because Thiem won and barely at that. Or is it because I said it wouldn’t translate to a slam win for him in the near future. In which case it still took him until USO 2020. In a draw that had effectively none of the Big 3 and that by all accounts Djokovic would’ve won had he not beaned the lines person. A slam mostly considered a total farce by many tennis observers and with a very low quality final which didn’t endear Thiem’s win to the masses. So much so it is basically an afterthought or a fluke.

And now Meddy joins him at fluking an achievemt thanks to the global pandemic.
