And you’ve also got the 2019 tour leader of match wins (Andreescu) and Halep conqueror (Vondrousova) in the mix.
Why she is quality on and off the court she has beaten everyone, always gives it 100% she would be a fair no1. I am not one who thinks the slams are the be and end all, for many reasons not least TV dictates over fair competition.

There was some SERIOUS drama last night with Sabalenka and her coach. She called for her coach he came down after she lost the first set 6-1 and she asked if he would support her. He said no. She went on a hellfire streak of playing after that interaction in the second set. Unfortunately she lost the third 6-4. Not sure what’s going on there. They usually have a good dynamic and relationship on the courts.

If she is fully fit she should make the final, with the winner of Bencic/Pliskova probably. Getting through a couple of close matches will help her, after losing some winning positions recently. Strapping round the knee is a worry though not just here moving forward as well. Knee trouble tends to not just go away.

It actually was a decent interaction in hindsight. It motivated Sabalenka immensely who held to love in the next game after the interaction and she actually m won 6 of the next 9 games to lead 4-1 in the 3rd.
She called him down again in the third set when she was broken and they had a good interaction and he said ‘want to prove you’re a champ? Nows the time to do it’ and they hi 5ed or he patted her on the back.

With anyone else it would’ve been a terrible chat and could’ve led to a firing but Tursunov clearly knows how Sabalenka ticks and the tough love approach must work for her.

Listening to her talk about her ranking is also a bit revealing. She thinks she can beat anybody and says the ranking doesnt necessarily matter, but she's ranked there because she isnt beating the stronger players.
I dunno. I still sometimes jokingly think that if she needs somebody to yell at or take anger out on I would volunteer. That's all sam seems to be good for at this point. When I heard the Osaka coaching news my first thought was that Garbo should grab sascha but I don't think that's going to happen.
Crappy result ends a crappy day. I'm tired and want to sleep.

A QF result isn’t bad for her but the demolition job is bad. She did better than the top 4 did and gained 205 points and she’ll jump 3 ranking spots.

We will see. Pretty much the stars truly born after they win Premier Mandatory or 5 when they are relatively young and breaking through. Bencic (Not Dubai but Canada) and Osaka are prime example. Kasatkina was making final last year but we can't say that she's a star.
Would love to see Vondrousova win her match making sure a teenager will be in the final.

That is all well and good but Bencic has been troubling players with how early she takes the ball. This was already evident in Dubai. I feel the forum is somewhat incredulous towards her results because her past performances did not suggest she was capable of this. But it may be that she has turned the corner now and it's all come together.
