Winner of 17 GS tournaments and greatest clay court player in tennis history against a talented young man from Canada. Will Felix surprise tomorrow tennis world?

you know how it is.we always think the bull is injured but then he crushes the wooden door and show his big horns and even bugger ballz

He wasn't talking about himself, he was talking about Zverev who's currently dealing with personal problems.
Peas in a pod on this wrong thinking.;) Tennis should be main, main focus. Zedrot rejected by girlfriend and Rafa finally marrying girlfriend may have similar impact.

Felix is a total pro at a young age and hopefully won't make these mistakes.

Rafa in 3. Felix's serve is gonna be a liability.
He's had a lot of aces on clay, but the serve points won are rather weakish. Perhaps Barcelona's fast speeds through air will help him get over the line with more service winners than typical. Dull's return was not sharp at all in Barcelona, 28th in his field.

It's not that, it's the nerves. Just look at what happened in Miami against Isner. When he's nervous his ball toss goes AWOL.

You're right; Nadal would have to have two broken arms not to break FAA should he be serving for a set.

Nadal in 2 without a doubt.:sneaky:

Even the King of Clay keeps things in perspective.#MMOpen

@Otacon sums it up best:
This is the speech you have when the end is near.

Rafa has been saying this for years. That's why he's lived such a blessed life - legend on the tennis court and fabulous life on his beloved island with his lady and extremely close family and friends.

Rafa usually does not play well in the 1st couple of games against someone he never played before. But I think Rafa should still win in two sets!

Had no idea that Zverev is having personal issues. Explains a lot; I hope he'll bounce back soon.

Going with FAA in 3. He has nothing to lose; and the pressure is on Rafa since he came up short in his last two tournaments.

He didn't have anything to lose against Isner in Miami. Didn't stop him from choking horribly. Really one of the worst chokes I've seen especially with all the double faults.

I don't see FAA taking a set although I'd like to be proven wrong.

It's going to be one of those years when Nadal doesn't win a grand slam.
Not sure whether he will still be motivated and fit to compete at that level in 2020 and beyond.

I really don't know what happened to him on clay. Just in IW against Khachanov he played some good tennis. There were more reasons to be optimistic about his form than last year.

FAA had a LOT of looks at Rafa's returns in that last game. He missed a lot of them, and then got it done with an ace.

He's doing the smart thing, which is to pound the ball up the middle and stay patient.

Rafa wants you to lose patience and go for it prematurely.

Doesn't seem like FAA is doing enough to bother Nadal. If Nadal makes a lot of errors on the forehand then maybe he has a chance...

But I'll be honest, I'm not at all impressed with FAA. Solid player, but I feel like that's it.

The Next Gen in a nutshell?

FAA playing well so far, but we all know the script, Rafa always breaks when the opponent is serving to stay in the set at 4-5.

Personally I think that the last suit of injuries in 2018 broke the Camel's back, so to speak.
I feel that he is discouraged and doesn't have enough to mount another comeback at the highest level. He's recovered and come back strong so many times, but he is getting older and nothing lasts forever.
Hard to see him again winning slams. He's had an ATG career and I doubt he can push himself more.

FAA under pressure is the ultimate error machine. I have nothing against him, but I don’t see anything special.

Yes, but my point is that now he plays on clay worse than on hardcourt. By logic the decline should come even more on his worst surface.
