Has anyone caught any of the WTA doubles in Miami? Doubles is quite exciting to watch, lots of moving parts. About to watch Goerges/Halep take on Niculescu/Spears. I think Simona makes Julia a stronger player.

There's a chance, however small, that someone can win both the Singles and Doubles titles. Barty, Hsieh and Halep are all still in both singles & doubles. If I have to pick between the three with the highest chance of winning both - I'll have to say Barty. Barty/Azarenka beat the #1 seed Krejcikova/Siniakova pair in doubles. But, then Halep/Goerges beat the #2 seed Babos/Mladenovich.

Either one, it'd be sensational to have one of the three to win both titles.

Absolutely. More things to learn and doable by watching WTA doubles than ATP doubles for mortal players like myself. No way in hell am I going to be doing the feats that Bryan brothers and other ATP players do on court. Some of the doubles formation/tactic in ATP, if not accompanied by 1st class serve/poaching/volleys/height/etc like theirs is a losing proposition to try - of course I'm exaggerating, there's still plenty to learn, but less imitable.

Excited by a possible Halep v Pliskova SF.

Those two usually play some great matches and have a decent rivalry building. They've already met 10 times with Halep leading 7-3.

They've met in some big matches, Premier 5 Dubai final, SF of the French Open, QF of the Aus Open, 3 Fed cup matches etc.

Rather see Halep v Vondrousova myself, that would be entertaining surely

Not sure if I have ever watched a worse match that this Hsieh-Kontaveit match. How can these players be ranked in the top 30?

At the Q stage, everybody's tired. Today's winners (Hsieh and Barty?) will have an advantage of a day more rest than tomorrow's winners (Plish and Wang?) when they go into the semis. I wouldn't be surprised if Barty won the trophy this time around. Each one of the four has a good chance, though, great lineup.

I would expect Petra to beat Barty. Court looks pretty slow, so Petra has time to line up and is less likely to spray.

I sort of agree with you, Petra is a more accomplished player, but Barty has very strong legs due to her cricket playing, and ends of tournaments is when you need your legs to hold up for mobility - AND Barty's accuracy is improving. It will be a tight one, either could win, but my dime is on Barty. She's hungry for a big win.

Kontaveit is on par with Keys and Ostapenko with her billions unforced errors. It's just painful to watch.

Ok, apparently Hsieh just ran out of gas and had no answer when Kontaveit stepped up and cut down on the errors in the middle of the 3rd set.
