Wow so if Fed wins Halle he's got a 50% chance of getting Anderson and 50% of getting Nadal in his half. Man I really wonder.
Anderson revenge would be sweet but he won’t sniff a SF. That Raonic win in 2017 felt so good, wouldn’t mind the same again

Now there’s the Zedraffe I have become acquainted with quite well this year! Haase 2-0 second set, on the way to the upset.

Zedraffe has fallen at least half a dozen times in this match on the slick grass.

Very keen to see what Basilashvili can do vs Berrettini later on today - he's had a fairly plain year so far with number of R1 losses, or a few wins here and there and then a loss - no real momentum. I've just checked his record and he's played Fucsovics 4 times this year, winning once and losing 3 times, so it's a good thing Marton is playing Queen's instead.
Matteo is having a great year outside the big events, so it'll be interesting to see whether he can step it up over this grass court season - he will be very dangerous given his current form, especially for anyone who hasn't had enough grass match play so far this season.

Basilashvili is a very bad player. I’m left handed, have never taken a tennis lesson in my life and I’m pretty sure I could beat him with my right hand

I wonder how many players will be after WCs into Eastbourne next week? At present, the top seed is set to be Berrettini, but I imagine if some top players lose early in Halle/Queen's, then they'll be after some more matchplay. Fun fact: Mischa Zverev is defending champ... If he loses R1, I expect we won't see him much on the ATP tour for much of the remainder of the year given he's already ranked well outside the top 100.

Additionally, I know the women's event is a premier, but the field is absolutely stacked for the week before a GS, whereas the men's is extremely diluted - any idea why this would be?

Wow, Kohlschreiber meekly goes down 6-3 6-3 in the first round to a total MUG (Steve Johnson). It's shocking how bad he's been this season. He's looking done, which would be very sad for the sport.

I'm not sure Kholi is done, his W/L percentage for a season is usually between 50 to 55%, his performances have been steady, he's never been the most consistent.
Look at Seppi though, he lost 10 matches in a row till he broke his duck last week in Holland.

Why do Halle's courts look so awful? The quality of the courts seems nowhere near Wimbledon/Queens. Even other smaller grass court tournaments have better courts. Halle looks stuck in the 1980s with patchy grass and terrible bounce everywhere. Is it because of the type of grass they use? I don't get it.

Idk what happened to Goffin but he was absolutely pathetic through a set and a half couldn’t even win points on return against RADU ALBOT. He’s a different player now

Struff really blew that one. A shame, he is very likeable. Needs to put just a bit more top spin on his BH, they are hitting the top of the net too often.

It always looks, sounds and feels like an indoor tournament to me. To be honest I can't tell whether they play with the roof on or not.

Don’t think much of a chance. You never know though, he gave roger a beatdown once before
I feel like he could be the next generation's Ferrer. Not sure if it's the best comparison but he looks like a player that will be super consistent but doesn't really have the weapons to win many, if any, big titles.

What a choke from Sousa in the tie break of the third set. Was 4-3 with his serve and made 4 UE in a row to lose the match.

Saw a video of Tsonga and Paire playing soccer with the tennis ball with Tsonga winning the point. I didn’t know if both player want they can actually play tennis without a racquet!
