Karen can be problem for thiem if Karen serves big and consistent, this will be a tough one. if Thiem is off on his game, he could be upset here.Thiem in 3 or 4.
I think he's playing the best tennis of his life right now.
Karen is one of those people i legit forget has a masters title and it was only last year.
lol but really, i feel like Karen flies under the radar when it comes to next gen players. Granted his grandslam results don't seem to have been all that great before this.
Now I watched Fognini vs Zverev instead of Thiem's match, but it seems likely that Thiem is back to his better form.
Anyway, I can't see Khachanov having the mentality to beat a top player on the top player's best surface yet.
Thiem in 3, with 1 TB, and a 6-3 and 6-4.
Yeah ok, not too suprised about that Monfils thing, I followed the score and by that it seemed Monfils could have taken the 2nd set, but still had that fear of going from the funny guy to a serious player a.k.a. Grand Slam-Winner. del Potro should have won that first set, and had a breakdown for 4 games in a row to lose the 1st and 2nd set, and after that the sets were split, but still yeah I'm quite impressed of how easy Khachanov held serve though.Monfils didn't play well at all, but like Thiem said, it was the best match in the tournament for him so far. Way way better than what he did in his first 3 rounds. He knows now that he has again a great chance to reach at least the semifinals here once again, but we'll see what Khachanov does. I was impressed that he lost only one set against del Potro.

Any really big hitter/server is dangerous for Thiem; Khachanov is both, and a superior clay model to Delpo.I've got some replays to watch in the inevitable rain delays over the next two days and maybe even Friday. Dumped watching Thiem today after Monfils came out of the gate in full bed crapping mode (watched the Zedzilla). Was tied up and could not keep eyes on Karen's match either today. For Thiem, I'm glad to have Khach over Delpo, but kind of a case of beware what you wish for as you might just get it. I'd like to see Zverev beat Djoko, but this is another dream into nightmare scenario as well. Hoping Thiem in easy 3 and Djoko beats Zverev in hard 5, but this is not a prediction on my part.

Well I just saw Thiem play and his level is exceptionally scary especially if its still building. Still won't comment til I watch Karen, and FranceTV has a full replay. A small sampling of peak Thiem and the Monfils match which was pure athleticism after Monfils cleaned the crap out of his bed (DFs on four of first six service points):Absolutely, I'd preffered del Potro only if he had a 5 set match (at least 3:30 hours) today. Mentally for Thiem I think that is better del Potro lost because of the H2H (he still has to remember about that unreal 5 set match at the US Open 2 years ago), and even if Khachanov is also ahead of Dominic in the H2H, is not really relevant because Khachanov back then played the best tournament of his life, meanwhile Thiem was just playing decent tennis in a surface that is not really good for him.

Kachanov in straights. He has too much power for Thiem to handle.
Those who think otherwise haven't seen KK playing.
If the match goes to 5 than Thiem will prevailIn the last 3 years Thiem made at least one tweener (that ended as a winner).
2018 against Pella in the AO
2017 against Tomic in RG
Who you got @I Am Finnish ?
They are playing at the SL court ?
Isnt it faster than PC?
Advantage Khachanov ?
I have been predicting a rematch of last year's final - Nadal vs. Thiem - from day one. So I think Thiem will win, and then he will defeat Zverev in the next round, but lose to Rafa in the final!
Does he even know how? Every match I've seen him play it's just hitting hard with topspin, but not aggressively.Thiem in 4 sets. Cant see kachanov playing first strike tennis consistent over 3 or more sets.
