This year's Roland Garros is a dream come true :)
I've never seen a more interesting slam event!

Federer in 5.

Past performance is an indicator of future results, right?

Fed has dominated Rafa since 2017 and hasn't lost to him since 2014 AO.

That's what can happen when Federer skips the clay :)
So if Federer withdraws right now, he can keep that streak alive....

Apparently Fed's happy to face Rafito.

I just took a picture of his innermost feelings about this match:

Is it good or bad for Nadal that he have played so little up until now?

I've always felt he likes to play his way into form. Something he sure haven't been allowed to do now.
Rafa didn't drop a set at 2017 Roland Garros, and only dropped ONE set at 2018 Roland Garros.
Was he not in form those years? :)

I'll be very in tune to each of their body languages at the start. Will Nadal look like he looked against Djokovic in Rome or AO? Will Federer look like he looked against Djokovic for most of Paris last year (sans the choke at the end) or Cincinnati where he lost before the match started? I'm already nervous.

Federer in straights or 4 sets. 6-3, 5-7, 6-3, 6-1 or 7-5, 6-4, 6-1 for the Swiss.

Federer is serving too well and is much more offensive than before. Nadal's own service has been garbage - he's been broken by nobodies. His defense also is not as it used to be before, which means he cannot elicit errors from the Fed backhand.
And of course Nadal's ROS is always the Achilles heel and has been in their most recent encounters.
There is a reason Fed won 3 of their last 4 matches in straight sets.

It's looking like a Fed-Djokovic final with Serb doing a Nole slam.

Its physically impossible for Rafa to look like he did at the AO, because Rafa was unable to train properly at the AO, whereas he's been training properly since then :)
"I think I was playing great during the both weeks in offensive positions. In defensive positions, I practiced what I practiced. I practiced well, very well I think, but because of the things that happened to me in terms of surgery, then what happened in Abu Dhabi, I was not able to work that much the defensive game. I worked a lot on the offensive game, but not that much on the defensive game.

To play against a player like him, playing the way he played tonight, I needed that defensive game to finally have the chance to be offensive, no?"

If Rafa were still the superior player, he would have beaten Fed sometime in the last few years.

Instead he is 0-5 starting with Basel 2015. And so he no longer scares Fed like he used to.

I love the way people think Nadal losing 5 games to Nishikori and Federer playing a tough 4 setter is somehow a good argument that Fed will win.
How can you seriously compare Kei to Fed? Roger is so much the greater and better player there can be no comparison there. Kei is a piece of crap compared to Fed in every single department, as you know very well.

P.S. -- Fabster's into the top 10! :p

Point taken.
I was sort of half curious because I really dont remember in 2017. I know Diego pushed him a bit in 2018 I just sont recall anyone else doing anything but also in 2017 I do think he was on a tear. 2018, maybe someone with more clay court prowess could have since I dont think he was omg amazing but he doesnt need to on clay.

Nadal needs to improve his game a lot. Nishikori is the biggest joke of an opponent you can get, he was barely walking today and yet Nadal had some problems. Against Federer who plays his best clay tennis since RG 2011 he will have to play much better. I think Federer might win it.

Tell that to Djokovic, in fact it was worse than today. (AO 2019 qf match).

Federer in 4. He will be rested come Friday, Nadal will be shaky to start as it has been 5.5 years since he beat Fed in any match. Fed will take advantage and jump to an early lead. Nadal will respond strongly by taking the second set, but won't sustain the level. Fed will win the next two sets, one tough (7-5 or 7-6) and one straightforward.

And Djokovic will be watching and laughing!

Do you want to bet?

on clay the story is so different, anthing you said is irrelevant because the condition arent alike the previous matches, and dont forget in a best of 5 sets, Nadal always will complicate the swiss.
Nadal in 3 or at most, 4 sets.

Fed in 4. Rafa doesn’t have the mental edge, Fed is moving and hitting like its 2017, and Rafa still hasn’t figured out how to beat Fed when hitting to his backhand doesn’t work. BE21EVE

That's certainly true, but there is a magic word that is not being considered "CLAY". That fine red dust where everything unravels for Fed.

I can't believe 35% of people are voting for fed in reality has less than a 5% chance to win this match
