He can leave Rome with his head held high. He made it to the quarters of a clay masters after playing two matches in One day at the age of 37. I was looking forward to his quarter final but it gets harder and harder to recover as we age.

Probably muscles didn't recover well and preferred resting. Say what you want, two matches in one day means that body cools down after first match but muscles remais stiff, not too good in that age begin anothe match in the same day, which unlikely even happened to be a long one.

The whole point of qualies is to determine the pecking order into getting to play the actual competition. The main draw now is pure knockout mode. Letting Coric coming back is BS, he couldn’t even beat an injured Fed today he does not deserve a QF spot.

He’s taking every move conservatively ever since he played on despite the back injury against Rafa in IW 2013.

Tsitsipas still has to get through Rafa. That's not a foregone conclusion. I guess it could be Verdasco though I doubt it. I would love to see tsitsipas in another final but it isn't going to be easy. I'm impressed that tsitsipas has been so consistent recently but these big guys are always waiting at the sharp end of tournaments.

Right. It's stupid to let someone lose a match and remain in a knock-out event. I would prefer them to give first-round walkovers, too, rather than admitting lucky losers, but it's at least better than letting someone lose in the main event and still proceed.

He doesn't deserve it, that's why. He lost. It's a knockout tournament.

LL is because qualis are not part of the tournament. Most players don't have to go through them.
