I had seen that price a couple days ago from another retailer. Was hoping it was a misprint. Yikes.
NB prices their shoes like they own a significant percentage of the market, gonna be tough for them to sustain anything at those price points

Right? I TRULY feel that anyone that is not Nike/Adidas/Asics (regardless of the quality of the shoe) needs to slot in at LEAST 10% under the price of the comparable shoe. I mean the fact that I could get the new purple 996s for 100 dollars only a MONTH after they launched tells me that NB is not ready for premium pricing.

This coupled with the loss of the 6-month really is fostering a clearance sale-only market for a lot of manufacturers. I should add that the industry as a whole is moving away from 6-month guarantees. If they can't offer that baked into the price of the shoe then it should cost LESS not MORE. I don't get it apparently,

edit: HEAD (The budget shoe option) offering their new shoe at 160 is absurd. Even if it was the best shoe on the planet you cannot ask that much for a bargain brand name. It is like Kia selling nicer cars... dealers have to offer 5k off from the start just to move them... because they are still Kia. This is in spite of the fact that the newer Kias are VERY good vehicles

About the 2019 shoes.... any new lines with stress on cushioning and stability? Not that I am unhappy about the current models, but just curious to know what is coming....

taking price annually doesnt have a direct relationship with revenue, if anything it can decrease demand given the already limited demand in the tennis industry.

perplexing move by NB. maybe the cushion is actually THAT good?

Yes - the Fresh Foam Lav from New Balance. And the Zoom Zero is relatively new.

Thanks. The "Zoom Zero" looks very interesting, but I am a bit skeptical about the stability/solid feel. Need to wait and see. TW folks seems to like it.

Talked to a guy who was wearing them: said they are alright as far as stability goes, nothing exceptional though.

They were in the dreaded flax colour too.

Looked awful under the artificial light.

Babolat is coming out with Propulse Rage. I am a big fan of Propulse Fury so very keen to see how these new one are. Look fantastic too.

I personally think Babolat shoes are very underrated and their Michelin treads are on par - if not better - than Barricade or the other big boys.

Here's the pics. Hope it okay and not a violation of TW rules. They are on Babolat website.

They're pretty stable for how light weight they are. I didn't have any stability issues when wearing them. The canvas material upper definitely does not stretch like other fabric-type-materials can. My issue was durability of the Zoom Air Unit. First pair squeaked - second pair popped. I haven't gone back.

Hmm, that has not been my experience at all. My son used to burn through Babolat shoes very quickly and so we stopped buying them. His Barricades lasted a LOT longer, heck even his light-weight UberSonics lasted a good bit longer than any Babolat shoe he tried. Not a fan of the Michelin compound...

Interesting. I am a former college player myself and play with DII college players regularly these days. Hustle a lot on court, tons of lateral movt. The only shoes I haven't burn through are Babolat Propulse and Barricades. To give you an idea, Ubersonics and Vapors melt on my feet within a month. How old is your son and what level does he play at?

Thought I'd post my playtest review of the Babolat Propulse Fury since we were discussing durability earlier. Also note that other playtesters in the playtest mentioned the great durability aspect of the soles as well. I have since also used newer SFX3 which are not exactly on par with sole durability of Propulse but still very very good.

All I want is a tennis shoe in 6E extra wide fit like my NB X-trainers which are fine but a bit on the heavy side.
Contrary to what you might think they don’t tear up clay courts (unlike some opponents I’ve played wearing tennis or running shoes) and they have never caused me ankle problems etc, but like I say they are a bit heavy (and a drab design).

Sorry for the delay, I forgot I posted. He's only a mid-level junior player (14 and 1 star recruit) and he burned through Propulses more quickly than any other shoe.

some 2019 catalogs are out on issue (the auto correct is fixing the spelling but it's two u's) - babolat and asics. though I'm only seeing a few resolution/solution color ways instead of throughout the entire year.

I know I'll probably get in trouble for saying all this too, but the 2019 french open pure aero is pictured as well. a lot of the babolat shoes look great!

doesn't appear as if the midsole has change. likely still a small zoom bag in the heel. tough. nice looking upper tho
Great chromatic effect (a little basketball shoes) ! The combination of colors looks very beautiful!

OK, played a match in my new Fresh Foam Lavs.... surprised no one else has obsessed over these yet. So far, so good! No break in whatsoever.
