I find it so strange how you try and make out that a 3 time Grand Slam champion is better than a 16 time champion. Bizarre.
Never said Stan was greater than Djokovic. I always maintained that Stan had the power, precision and mindset to handle Djokovic in best of 5. It's pretty obvious Djokovic has tremendous trouble with him anytime they play in Slams. Unless Stan is bombing him off the court, Djoker has to grind him down for 5 sets to win it.

The USO winner is cursed. Murray was the last benevolent person but since then no winner has been allowed to defend the title.

I'm more and more convinced of the mental effect of tennis.
Anyone else Djokovic would face today he would believe he can win and won't give up the match.

Anyone else Roger would have faced in a Wimbledon final and have those match points in serve, he won't have squandered.

The mental block comes once you realise the matchup is not in your favour.
I've been convinced of this since Wimby 2008.

I honestly don't know what to think. Stan is one of my favourite players of all time. I esp. love that OHBH. It's a thing of pure beauty. I really wanted him to win tonight, and am glad he received the win. But, I have conflicting feelings about what Novak did at the end. On the one hand, I would never wish a player to hurt themselves. Still, if he was already in severe pain, and knew he was injured, why did he go out to begin with? No title is worth doing that to yourself? If he had won the 2nd set, would he have stayed in? We'll never know. If he's seriously injured, then I wish him well in the healing process. But, I would also genuinely like to see Stan go forward.

Just so everybody knows, this is why Djokovic gets booed and is generally disliked. He’s a phenomenal player but he’s been a drama queen in the past (a longggg time ago) and he quits now just Bc he’s getting destroyed. Common cough and cold? SARS? Leg? Back? Shoulder? Heat? Please....it’s a non dominant shoulder injury that he’s played through for a few matches now. Nadal or Federer would NEVER quit there.

I see all the angry fans are out in force. 40-15, what he did in the AO final, all left a trail of Tears it seems

I'd much rather have Djokovic's Wimbledon win + this disappointing injury/loss than what Federer has at the moment. If he wins the USO then it will equalize a bit but yeah, Wimby 2019 hurt bad.

This didn't erase that in the least. Nothing will.

Don't focus on the negatives I think this tournament was always going to be too tall an ask for Novak between the tough draw and his nagging injury.

:cool:Nostradamus strikes again........................WOW................. I predicted Stanimals shots are so heavy that it will destroy Novak's shoulders............................. and WHAT just happened .....................

Sad. What a beatdown.
Djoker could have finished. His ego was hurt more than his shoulder.
Poor Djoker.

He isn't greater or better than Djokovic, just a tough matchup for him, even more so when he isn't at full fitness. I agree with some of the other posters who said he shouldn't have even stepped on to the court tonight.

I'm sorry am i seeing that correctly? federer yes, he has never retired but you do know nadal can be jsut as dramatic, imo nadal and his knees are a never ending saga and he did retire last year in slams, in fact he retired in the 5th set against cilic even though i think there maybe a few more games left.

LOL! Hindsight is hilarious isn't it?
If it had been someone like Guido Pella or Nikoloz Basilashvilli on the court tonight instead of Stan Wawrinka, no doubt whatsoever that Djoker would've been thumping his chest and not showing any signs of any injury. But because Stan was there, now there's the excuses that Djokovic shouldn't have stepped on court. Check out the poll and the comments before the match and see all the silly armchair experts claiming Stan didn't have a chance in hell because he was too slow and his "Stanimal" days were long over. LOL

I wouldn’t count on a fedal matchup just yet. Would love to see it but shall see. I seen stranger stuff happen.

Why?
It would be a much bigger and more transcendental match than the one that happened more than two and a half years ago in Australia.

beat soderling+djokovic in 09 before losing a close one to delpo.

all draws considerably tougher than nadal's USO draws.

2017 was a clown draw.
2010 & 2013 so easy before the finals.
2010 djoko was decent-good, but no better than 07-09 djoko, a tad worse actually.
2013 djoko was cr*p for 2/4 sets.
