So many SFs and Finals between each other, now a R128 lol

Come on US Open, this is just bad...

That’s not Saisai Zheng, it’s Zhang Shuai.
   not only that, but could they have selected more unflattering pictures of the players?

Lol JMac questioning the legitimacy of the Serena/Maria 1R matchup and Chrissie is quick to sweep it under the rug

Haven’t scanned the thread but I wanted to shout out to USTA for finally honoring Althea Gibson with a bust on the BJK grounds. Present for the ceremony was doubles partner Angela Buxton, a British Jew who shared the ingrained prejudices against “minorities” so very prevalent back in the shamateur era of the 50s/60s when they played.

Kerber out:oops:
Watched it. Kerber simply doesn't do much with soft, high and spinny balls DTL to her backhand. When she replied with similar balls, Mladenovic was very comfortable hitting high inside-out FHs; a shot Kerber isn't comfortable enough with to use herself often enough. Kristina served her a good menu of high spinny balls and faster FHs sprinkled with a few drop shots. At several times, Mladenovic was rolling her second serves in with spin a 60-65MPH knowing perfectly that Kerber wasn't going to do anything with them; which honestly should be criminal. Apparently Mladenovic had her back massaged by the physio in the second set, so hard to figure if she served that slow on her second serves by choice or because of a potential back issue.

Kerber was looking better when Mladenovic was trying to hit flat with pace, but requiring your opponent to inject pace so you can develop your tennis wasn't enough for Kerber today.

Why must I endure ESPN choosing to put in the box one Michael Wilbon, possibly the most unqualified journalist to discuss tennis. Why didn’t he bring along his senile partner Tony Kornheiser to make it totally unbearable.

Serena v Hsieh looming in the 3R should be interesting. Have a feeling Serena won’t struggle against her like so many other players do but will be fun to watch

Genuinely didn't know he had passed. Was just a joke, lighten up
Not sure I’m not already lightened up. Just curious if there was an episode that made you feel he was losing it. I know the USO’09 post-match JMDP interview was mangled but the little people in his earbud made him get off the air because of time constraints before Juan could get a chance to speak in Spanish to the home crowds in Argentina.

Sorry! I find Konta is one dimensional. Also I somehow don't comfortable seeing her tics and serve routine so not really easy on my eyes lol!
I actually find her exaggerated, stylized ball bouncing rather amusing / charming. Does it Really bother you all that much?

Tics? What would those annoying tics be? She's certainly got nothing on Rafa or Marion Bartoli. Plenty of current and past WTA and ATP players appear to display more so-called tics than Jo Konta

She's gotten pretty far with that one dimensional game in Fed Cup and on the WTA tour. Achieved a ranking in the top 10/20. Posted a very convincing win over Serena. Has posted wins over quite a few other 10 and top 20 players as well. Not too shabby for one dimension

So does Bouchard :)
She got a really good serve that help her along the way. I used to called her Bouchard with a good serve.

It doesn't bother me that much like I could still watch her but it's just I don't find comfortable to see. Marion Bartoli also I couldn't love although Nadal and Cilic (In fact I love Cilic) was somehow okay. Gender thing? Don't know.

Bartoli and Konta have at least one thing in common: both far brighter than the average person, therefore much, much brighter than most professional tennis players ;)
No 'valley girl' speak for them...

I remember a WTA video where current (of the time) players were asked who they thought was the most intelligent amongst them. Most said Bartoli. One of them gave the example "she reads books".
You couldn't make it up. :)

Hope Andrea Petkovic does well in this years U.S. Open! She has had bad luck in tournaments that I saw her in this year! 2018-2019 is her comeback!

Currently playing Buzarnescu, 1st round, up 4-2, serving!

I decided to see the Penko match after seeing Belinda. Boy, oh boy, that serve remains atrocious as ever... I must be a masochist to have deliberately decided to see this.
She failed to serve for the match twice, twice! And that ball throw is a goddamn mess. Ivanovic looks like a world class server comparing to this.
