Somehow missed in all the madness that it’s Osaka v Bencic 4R. Real tough one for Naomi.

Belinda has played her twice this year winning both. She ended Naomi’s chance of defending her Indian Wells title with a 6-3 6-1 win. Could she end her title defence again, this time in NYC?

That one should be a real good match. I won’t be at all surprised to wake to a Bencic victory.

Osaka's serve is bailing her out at the moment. Bencic is all over her when she's able to return the serve with interest, taking the ball early and changing directions easily to stop Osaka from using her ball-striking ability. But this missed chance to break again may prove costly.

Hard to say but they would make a great final. Easy on the eye no matter the quality of the Tennis. If Bella gets through today that could happen, I would really expect Elina to beat Konta and Williams playing as she did last night, if the Chinese girl can take Williams she has the game to trouble Elina.

Besides serve, and some net approaches, which were great, Martic did pretty the same that all of Serena's opponents did so far – played right in Serena's striking zone. But probably it's also not possible to do anything else, because Serena hit the ball hard and not many players can handle that.

Well it is make her run early and the legs are shot, power quickly diminishes as well. Yet again in a GS Williams avoids playing anyone of note until late in a GS. The Chinese girl can she handle the big game, Konta I wouldn't trust her, it is possible Williams can get to the final again avoiding all the top players who would expose her, however I expect the winner to come from the other side of the draw.

Uh, Osaka was completely oblivious about what to do with that middle court ball and Bencic breaks. Well played by Bencic. Taking the ball early and deep (even going to the net when the pattern of play demands it), making Osaka uncomfortable and misfire.

And Belinda wins the 1st. She scared me there with her DF, but managed to produce an unreturnable serve at the end.

i swear **** like this always happens when i see that my pick is winning comfortably, and then i look away from the match. then when i come back to it, they're losing. i guess "letting your foot off the gas pedal" applies to everything, whether or not im the one playing. but in my case, it's letting my focus off of the match.

There was only possible shot and placement in the court to give Bencic a chance to return the ball.

she's the more consistent player. she plays the percentages and is more calculated. goerges on the other hand sprays errors left and right. she's a streaky type of player.
