But Goerges threw away a perfectly good opportunity to reach the QF. She failed so many shots that she had no business failing.

If they're playing well and reach that stage by merit and not by an overwhelming and freaky amount of consecutive withdrawals, I'm cool with it (even if I really want Bencic to win it).
Svitolina would have Williams blowing out of her backside within 15 minutes but she would need a big first serve percentage, I would certainly give her an even chance against Williams, Andreescu and Bencic should beat her in straights, as Simona did. Like the look of the Chinese girl, she has a shot if she can handle the extras of playing Williams at this venue. Any top consistent player will beat Williams if they stick to the sensible game plan, legs are gone so expose that, no easy balls, make her bend, stretch, run and not stand up and hit with a full base. As we saw in the Wimbledon final the power quickly drops when she tires. Getting drawn into a hitting match is a losing plan.

I'm a Serena fan, but, honestly, most of the people remaining could beat her. She's well past her prime and, as we've seen multiple times, she gets way more tense and doesn't always rise to the big occasion. Plus, other players know this - they know that if they can stay with her and get her stretched, they have a chance. That said, she looks much better than she did earlier in the year and is in better, if not optimal, shape, and there's always the reality that she could rise to the occasion if she reaches the final.

I've seen her training couples of time in her TC Ried when she sill was with Melanie Molitor. The thing is that people speak dialects in the German part of Switzerland, which sometimes is also could be different even in neighbour villages. And because it's a multi-language country Swiss-German dialects are influenced by French language. So in Zürich and around the Lake Zürich (and in many other places), where Belinda is from, it is "merci" which substitutes "danke", "vielmol", or "vielmal" stands for "vielen" in this case. Same with "Auf Wiedersehen", instead of which Swiss Germans use just "Adé" or "Adieu".

The key is the legs are gone so the chances are any quality Tennis player will beat her if they are good enough to expose that, technically and crucially upstairs. The only way Williams could beat a player with these qualities now is destruction on first serve and second return, this is more unlikely as she tires.

I think another problem is that Serena doesn't seem to completely respect the fact that her legs are gone (or at least diminished) - so she doesn't adjust accordingly. If side to side movement has diminished then when she's stretched for the ball, she's got to (at least a lot of the time) play a defensive slice off the backhand or loop a high forehand so she at least has a chance to get back into position. But, she often seems to think she has the feet she did 10 years ago and tries to hit big while stretched/off-balance resulting in errors or simply a shot that comes back quickly that she hasn't recovered for. There's still a way for Serena to win - it won't work all the time by any means, but, in theory, there's things she can do as her abilities diminish. But, will she?
Yes I would agree with that I don't think she has got to grips with the fact she can't run at this level anymore. Taking pace off against a player like Halep or Svitolina is a good idea rather than playing big low percentage shots but her ego will not permit that style of Tennis.
