5-1... maybe Svitolina pulls a Pliskova.... Jocking.... It's over.Ok this is getting ugly.

She looks shellshocked.Svitolina doesn't look like she's even trying anymore
Her facial expression says it all really
You know that I’m thinking of the Karolina match now...5-1... maybe Svitolina pulls a Pliskova.... Jocking.... It's over.
That was a very strange incident... I don't see it happening againYou know that I’m thinking of the Karolina match now...
But I can’t imagine she’d repeat that.
These girls are making it too easy for Williams. How are you supposed to put any pressure on her playing way behind the baseline? She looks shellshocked.
Well I’ll wait until the last ball has been played to pronounce judgment but I really didn’t see her sinking 5:1.
uh oh Mama Rena is in the catsuit tonight.... Elina better watch out
She is Radwanska 2.0 when it comes to tournament resultsI have decided that Svitolina doesnt' deserve to win a Major. She was one of those players that is just on the edge and good enough to win YEF and all. But after this lack of tactical awareness against power player, she doesn't deserve to win
She did step on her foot badly, which may have affected her. Though later she denied there being an issue and didn’t take medical so who knows. That was a very strange incident... I don't see it happening again
You can't play that far behind the baseline the entire match. After just 4 games, it was clear that strategy wasn't working. you have to step in just behind the baseline and take the ball on the rise even at the risk of making more UE's. I guess Svitolina didn't have plan B. Who's fault is that ?
Serena Williams breaks a tie with Navratilova and is now outright second for most major finals reached by any woman, with 33. Evert one ahead on 34.
I mean...she never should have been in that semi to begin with. She just isn’t a grass player at all.Oh well....I guess an @$$ whooping is an @$$ whooping any which way you look at it. Another miserable semi final performance from Svitolina...
Serena tied Evert for most match wins at USOWhat were they saying about Evert in her on court interview?
I see some are pinning their hopes on Bianca, even though she not out of the semis yet. While I think Bianca has a very nice game, she need three set to get through a qualifier who pretty thick and serve and volleys.
Yes how odd not to adjust, try sth else, anything...You can't play that far behind the baseline the entire match. Bianca dominated a qualifier who folks here mocked for being heavy. Townsend made any adjustment in the second set, it was not a dip by Bianca. If someone like Taylor, who had a lot of miles on those legs made the match competitive; what can a fresh, motivated, less heavy Serena do?That qualifier beat Wimbledon champ Halep and if you watched that game, Bianca only lost the second set because of a brief dip. She dominated Townsend in the first and third.

This otoh did surprise me. Svitolina is elite on HC but just didn’t look like it at all.
I agree with Nostradamus, it was a bad idea to stand so far behind the baseline. And then she just kept at it even though it wasn’t working at all.
Disappointing.
Exactly the same as Wang. She is just reacting as the match goes on.

Monfils tried his best even though he was dead tired. All those double faults were due to him being tired in the legs, and it wasn't his faultNo strategy. No Plan B. Gives up at 1-3 in second set instead of fighting like Diego did.
Svitolina cannot be taken seriously. Just like her bf Monfils.

Well, she’s young and has time. She’ll play a slam final eventually.
Even after Serena retires, I just can't see her winning a major playing like thatExactly the same as Wang. She is just reacting as the match goes on.
One way to beat Serena: return well and move her around the court. Simply defending would not work...
Almost 38 yrs old, playing like she's 30 yrs. Two convincing wins. Like someone here said, Svitolina had no plan. SW was too focused & dominant.Serena played amazing. This tournament is the best I've seen her play since she came back.
