Absolutely. Diego didn't even know. He thought he would face the Italian who beat Rublev.
Gilbert told him, he will face Nadal.
Seriously, he should get a FINE or suspension for this. Brad Gilbert. Cilic could sue him.. It was announced in front of a HUGE stadium. Wrong Info.
You can't really fine someone or suspend them for being an uninformed moron. If that were the case, half the world would be in trouble. :p

I'm not sure if Schwartzmann didn't know Nadal still has to play Cilic, or whether he was just being honest about who he thought was gonna win the match.

Lol. Public flogging.. it's such a serious offence :)

It's like Roger says. Tennis is game of fine margins. If you win 55 percent of points, you dominate. If it weren't for a bad let cord here, bad umpire call there, the match would've turned quickly. Zverev was doing exactly the right things, and it came down to bad luck in the end. Even the big 3 do not won every match.

This is BS. On the oncourt interview Gilbert/Schwartzmann - said your QF opponent is Nadal.

WTF. CIlic-Nadal hasn't even happened. Cillic is a UsOpen Champion. What happens if Nadal loses? WIll Gilbert get egg on his face? Such disrespect.

Anybody with a brain knows that Nadal is easily winning that match unless he breaks his leg. Even then he still might win.

Omg watching that match live was something great atmosphere not the result i wanted but also watching sascha double fault 1000 times is far more frustrating irl

Feel bad for Zverev. He is in such a funk mentally. I think he should take a month or two off tennis.

Also, does Schwartzman remind anyone else of Donald Duck?

The problem with this is that you could point out bad luck on the winner's side(Diego in this case) which could have led to a blowout. If all of a player's matches keep being decided by a couple of points here and there, then that means he's playing right where he belongs to for the time being.

Idk about that. Diego dominated when it came to second serves. Zverev just won 32 percent of his second serves. That’s brutal and awful.

Zverev could have won the match with a little more aggression. I guess he just doesn't feel comfortable on the baseline instead of behind it.

Same Zverev dunce tactics, and same old GS story. 5 setters against journeyman then losing when faced with first good player. Pretty clear he isn't willing to make radical changes now.

At least he's done better than tsitipas last 3 slams. What a joke this gen is.

Have a look at this.
Pay attention to the fact that Zverev constantly retreats far behind the baseline and relinquish the initiative. Even on his own serve if not given a complete putaway.

Sure, Diego plays great but he is kind of handed the upper hand in the rallies.

Since Zverev is not like Thiem or Stan who thrives when slugging away far behind the baseline, he would surely benefit greatly of just staying on the forefoot.

Is it a mental lapse?
