This will be only the 2nd meeting on tour, Kyrgios defeating Medvedev in Rome earlier this year in three sets. Nick and Daniil are going for titles #6 and #5 respectively.

Daniil cruised against Gojo in less than an hour, very workmanlike and controlled performance as expected, kept the UEs to a minimum.

We saw the best and worst of Nick against Stefanos, having saved MP in a deciding set TB to come through in three sets.

Who wins the title? Interesting match up.

Starts not before 5:00 pm, local time.

Always feels like Kyrgios wants to prove he's the best of his generation any time he plays these guys. Also been in great form this tournament.

In Rome honestly felt like he treated Medvedev with disdain. Had the most uninterested look on his face as he picked him apart.

Curious to see if that repeats or Medvedev turns up and bodies him.

This is the conclusion to it all in D.C. Showdown - Kyrgios goes for it all! Will he win or blow up or both? LOL! Cannot wait to see what happens! Tennis fans got their tennis match jollies in the Tsitsipas semis! Will this be even better?

Yep I understand the hype for Nick, but Meddy was impressive and highly efficient last night vs Gojo.

Will the Aussie break the firm, error free, game of the Russian?

Personally I doubt.....Meddy in 2.

St Nick in 2 or 3, He needs the money to pay off his fines for good sportsmanship. o_O

Cheers

I can't call this one. Kyrgios plays like he did in 1st set yesterday, he will walk all over medvedev but Medvedev these days is a pretty good problem solver. He waxes hot and cold a bit though just like his opponent. I hope for a great match and expect a couple of rackets to be sacrificed for the cause. I looked at the draw for Montreal and could be a repeat of this match in just a couple of days. I'm going to say Kyrgios in 3. He played too hard against Tsitsipas to not want this.

They could play each twice in a gap of 3-4 days. I am picking kyrgios to win in 3 sets but I really hope this consistency he carries on into the masters and Us open. A fired up kyrgios with big 3 could make for an amazing Us hardcourt summer

Nick to take out the trash in two sets for his second title of the year. Thus triggering 60 threads hysterically pointing out what a punk and loser he is. :p
Medvedev really gets off on beating home town heroes and crowd favorites. Nick had better play the villain in this one or look out.o_O

Kyrios to take an early lead. Then Medvedev to dial in the returns. Nick to get really entertaining, lose in 3.

That makes this match seem even more high stakes as not only does the loser walk away from Washington less 200 points, but could mean early exit in Montreal.

The dude's won 4 titles in his life and none of them big ones. He did beat world beater Stevie Johnson in American and de Minaur in Australia. The crowd will be solidly behind Nick as they've been all week. Who the hell would root for boring ass Medvedev? His game is stiflingly dull. Nick in straights!

Both guys looking good so far. But if Kyrgios continues to go after Medvedev's backhand, he's going to regret it. That is a losing battle on hard court.

Medvdev has such a casual serve prep and serve motion, almost like a club player (with radically superior results, obviously).

how can I root for anyone here if I dislike one guy’s personality and the other one is the most boring thing since doctor waiting rooms?
