Unsurprisingly, Serena is out with a back injury. I wonder if this is just about protecting a possible run at the USO? I really hate how cynical that sounds, but it's how I feel.

Idk if you know but she had back spasm on Saturday, said it usually fine after 48hrs. Scheduled to play Tuesday, seen practicing at Cincinnati and I guess she decided she can't play? Protecting or not.

I've never said she should receive any preferential treatment from the tournament. I'm merely saying that if she plays her matches in the heat of the day she may succumb at one point and retire or lose a match. If it happens, so be it. It's part of the game.

With the matches will be play in consecutive days onwards, most likely she will play in days.

PS:
I'm not debating. Usually I use like buttons to say I'm not debating but it's gone now.

It is in the UK rages such as The Sun, Daily, etc... She is dating some type of aristocrat’s family son. He is taller then Sharapova and maybe younger too!
Yep, he is super hot, from a good family, studied at Eton, works in arts and they look perfect together.

edit: i thought he is partly russian because of his name but no. pure uk :cautious:

@ALEXT
She ain't number one, she ain't past winners, she ain't American.
One should think why the hell should she get night matches and preference treatment.
OTOH, she is the most recent slam winner. She's a three-time finalist at this event. She was a finalist last year and the defending defending champion, Kiki, has already taken down by Venus. She's one of the most popular players on the tour right now. So it might be worth giving her an evening slot to draw in more people for a third-round match

Yep. You are right and even the SFs and the F are played in the middle of the day so if the heat/humidity continues, she has little chance to go deep into this tournament on these grounds alone IMO. I hope she proves me wrong though. I've always hopped that one day she'll hoist the title in Cincy (and Rome for that matter) .....

Simona plays the winner of Keys and Kasatkina who don't play until late afternoon today. I suppose they could make the winner of that match play again in less than 24 hours. But is that the norm?

We shall see. Venus is still alive and depending on Sloane and Keys results, that night matches will probably goes to those 3. Then we also have Naomi.
Night only slotted with 1 each stadium. But even the Grandstand today featured doubles and Mens single.

Edit: Keys will face Simona if she win, so might be.

Sharapova should just retire already... I wonder why she keeps playing. Does she really think she has a shot at another slam?

Very strange coach-player interaction just now between Osaka and her coach. Coach wants her to be serious, and she started giggling immediately. Very "unique" personality.

Been a big fan of Diyas but she is a hot and cold sort of player! Has tons of talent. Lately she is winning her matches. I fan of Kenin too. So, I am neutral!

Sloane is such a mystery to me. With all her athleticism and natural gifts, why does she play so defensively?

Some good matches on R3:
Elina vs Sofia, a rematch of Toronto.
Su Wei vs Naomi, they met couple of times this year and always a good match.
Svetlana vs Sloane, both building their form.

Rest is also promising and hard to tell the winner outright except Pliskova who is heavy favorite.

Simona get night as you guys wish @ALEXT @SystemicAnomaly it's against Keys anyway she should win comfortably.

Naomi Osaka is on Court 10! The outside court camera is the worst!

Don't know about the winning comfortably part. There are very few predictable matches these days and we all know Keys can play good tennis out of the blue so I would not take it for granted that Halep will win this one.
Yup, Halepeno is favored but nothing is a certainty here. Simona said that she was not in pain right after her Wednesday match. However, something like that can always manifest itself hours later. But she will likely be okay as long as she takes sufficient countermeasures.

Kamau said that you can't force certain game play with the personalities that she is. I think she was a little bit offensive in 2nd and 3rd set mainly because Putint is passive tho.

Venus asked for coach seemingly just to request for coffee?? Didn't hear any advice, just the coffee request.

She just lost 6-2 in first set to Vekic.
