Kamau said that you can't force certain game play with the personalities that she is. I think she was a little bit offensive in 2nd and 3rd set mainly because Putint is passive tho.
Defensive play styles are not really what bothers me, but rather, for someone like Sloane who is capable of consistent aggression due to her natural abilities her preference to be more passive indicates lack of the "killer instinct" had by many other champions who are probably less innately gifted than Stephens (example: Sharapova pre- drug ban). Just my opinion. If i could hit a forehand like Sloane I'd be drilling the ball every chance I got :-D

Sveta took the first set 6-1 against Sloane. Anybody watching? What's going on? Despondent Sloane making an appearance?

P.S. TTW is not the same without Likes. Bring 'em back please!

Sloane had 1 winner to 12 unforced errors in the first set. She doesn't even look like she's out there right now. Not really competing, just kind of lackadaisical.

Thanks, I think we've all seen that version of Sloane before. Doesn't look like she's snapping out of it either, 2-0 down in the second already.

Osaka - Su-Wei Hsieh going the distance..... Entertaining match. Su-Wei Hsieh makes some amazing shots....

Ybn Cordae (Upcoming rapper) as boyfriend to boot.
I'm not in US but did people don't care about her? She won US Open and IW.
As far as I'm aware (as an American) she's fairly popular here. Nowhere near the level of the Williams sisters (obviously) but she got a lot of attention last year, particularly from the US Open (be that good or bad). That said, there certainly isn't an animosity towards here that i've noticed. She would probably be more warmly embraced if she represented the US rather than Japan, but that never held Sharapova back....

Could also be that her personality, while charming, is a bit quiet and reserved. Us Americans like our loud, flashy characters a la Serena, Roddick, Agassi, etc.

Hsieh was on a roll in the 3rd set and then the Chair empire upset the trend by his over rule on a line call and Osaka got re-serve the point over again. Lit was Hsieh point too! Ugh! Now it is Osaka serving for the match at 5-1!

Not getting the live feed on TC+ for the Keys-Halep match. Only shows "We'll Be Right Back" on the Plus 2 channel. Anyone else getting it?

The way Tracy Austin does the commentator about Keys, you think she is the most powerful groundstrokes and serve of any pro player, living or dead, men or women! I change the channel to another coverage that is more neutral and less chatty!

Well Keys does hit harder and flatter than just about anyone (on the women's side). Personally Tracy is one of my most liked commentators. Much better than the ESPN/NBC circus of Shriver, Evert, Carillo, Gilbert, Courier... I think you get the point

Saw earlier Halep pointing to her right thigh and looking at her box and gesturing the "done" hand gesture. What's going on there? Is she injured there? Only see taped left ankle/calf.

She is one of the "Big Babe" hitters at MC would say. I rather like Tracy. I'm not getting any commentary at all on my TC+ feed. I rather miss it.

I'm only half watching... was hoping to see Keys rout Halep, but looking like it's going to get dicey. Shocking.... another Halep grindfest

Back on serve at least

I hoping for the opposite. Rather like Halep's game. She is doing some attacking as well as defending against Maddie's deep and powerful strokes.

I am not a fan... I respect her game but don't like her attitude... seen too many matches where she just gives up/doesn't look like she wants to be out there. Also her extended grunts (when she doesn't even hit the ball that hard) irk me
