2019 Wilson Blade

I think they can't share much at this stage...

but there is enough there so far, no CV, softer, longer handle, more power, softer flex, Aug 15th release, muted... not bad so far, we all want the info, but we have to wait!

Wilson says marketing/launch info mid July. Racquets to shops to buy by August, so pretty quick. Fingers crossed. [emoji1694]

The vague info helps no one. I would argue it does not even build hype it just disappoints. Why put it in "influencer's" hands if they cannot talk about it. It all just seems silly.

For Wilson... its a racket.. .not a new airplane for the military. A decent statement on how it plays is not going to tip Yonex off and change their formula for their new VCore Pro... it will make no difference. If they want the first bit of info people hear to be poorly made instagram ads then that is a damn shame on their part.

I am hoping for a Blade that is control oriented but has comfort with the Clash technology built-in. The Clash 98 is okay but a thinner-beam in the Blade would make it a little more maneuverable by comparison (e.g. for one-handed backhands and serves).I will play with one Clash 98 for now. I have two RFA 97's and a Clash Tour (will sell) as backups.

I want this new blade to be:

between 11.5-11.7 ounces strung
20mm beam
97 sq in headsize
6 to 7 pts headlight
325 swingweight

18x20 of course. that goes without saying.

For me, I’d like it at 305 grams unstrung with a 21-22mm beam and a 330 SW, balance 3-4 pts HL. Thats how I remember the Blade being.

Thing is once a frame gets too thin and the SW and weight is too low, you lose a lot of power. Since the Blade is a modern racquet, I’d be surprised if the specs are far from what I am guessing.

I am interested in the gravity pro, just might be 10 grams too statically heavy in comparison to the blade with adjustment for equal swingweights. I look forward to y’alls review.

It would be inetersting to compare new Balde to TFight 305 XTC. TF plays so nice and soft with ice code 17 at 23kg, power is here, control also, and quite easy spin. A great racquet for those who hit hard and have eastern grip, also great for those who have problems with control when using sticks with very open pattern, like PA, Extremes.

Exactly. Light and high swingweight. Too static heavy and it defeats the original purpose of the blade. Still one of the only racquets you can get to these numbers.

What makes the blade so popular? I'm hoping to demo the CV 16x19, looking to replace my old PD.

It’s the quintessential modern day player’s frame - relatively thin beam, moderate flex, light enough to be maneuverable, heavy enough to be stable, and comes in both 16x19 and 18x20. Myself, I’ve never felt connected to any of the iterations I’ve tried. But clearly, there’s a reason the line is so popular.

It's kind of interesting how much some companies screw up their social media/marketing campaigns. Im not an expert but have some experience.

Some companies pretend to have a clue. Discount/affiliate codes are getting big now, but they hand them out to people with fake followers and no actual followerbase. It's quite funny.

A bit different than giving out demos, but I guess similar mistakes. Babolats P17 campaign was great though, imo anyway

So about 5 weeks to go, not long now! Let's see how Wilson promote this, clash style or something new. Keen on the 18x20

The Clash was a huge marketing campaign around the technology. The Balde will definitely be about the FEEL and control the Blade is known for, but with the added FLEX the Clash tech developed. More subtle and such.

Wilson marketing campaign said for Countervail: "30% less racket vibration with same feel" Here on board the majority say the old ProStaff has better feel than Countervail ProStaff. What's right now - paper or people who tried CV ?

I didn't find that much more dampened feel for the CV, but did feel like it had the same feel overall, so I am a terrible person to ask. lol.

I wish Wilson would stop acting like they discovered how to make a flexible racquet for the first time. Calling it “tech” is just marketing BS and makes us, the consumer, look stupid.

The flex is definitely different than what has been around from what I have seen. It feel very different too and I don't like it in the Clash personally.

All CV racquets i tried have a way more dampened feel than non-CV racquets, which for me is not a problem, but i can understand the hate it gets from a lot of folks.

Personally, i can't stand the feel of graphene racquets, but like CV on my blades.

I'm looking forward to demo'ing the 18 x 20 version (assuming there will be one). A thinner beam with that Clash technology sounds great. At least on paper. Need to try it though.

Expected / Wanted:
---------------------------
Strung weight: 320g / 330g
Beam: 20mm beam / 22mm beam
Headsize: 98 sq in / 100 sq in
Balance: 5pts / 7pts
Swingweight: 325 / 320

its about time!!!, wilson released pictures..
weve known this color scheme for over 2+ months, maybe even 3+months
and I gotta say, I donot like the look!, green does not stand out like red (clash)
I have yet to try it, Im hoping it feels better than it looks

I dug the black one with wilson in green. Think thats the first countervail version. I also was cool with the black and gold color which was the model i used.

This one is ok. Not bad, but its mainly about how it plays for me.

Still don't think anyone is allowed to post much yet, but the annoucenment is done at least. Full release info is supposed to be around August 1st I hear.
