Great job from Barty. She showed off her doubles skills a lot in this match, also. Kudos to Vondrousova for getting to the final. The multi-dimensional Barty is a a bad matchup for her, though. You need to inject more variety and give some different looks to beat Barty.

Incredible effort these two weeks from Vondrousova though.

Didn't drop a set, one of the most consistent players on tour this year and the youngest RG finalist since Ivanovic in 2008.

Barty has to be one of the favorites to win Wimbledon. I just don’t trust her Bc idk if her serve is good enough. Although she’s def been serving well

Congratulatons to Barty. She's now in the club she--and every player--wants to join.

WTA majors update: Here's the list of non-Serena majors winners since 2010 (contrary to the completely false "Serena wins everything" / "Easy draws" ranting from ScentOfDefeat and others who share his self-created disgust with the WTA):

  • Schiavone - FO - 2010
  • Clijsters - USO 2010 & AO 2011
  • Li Na - FO 2011 & AO 2014
  • Kvitova - Wimbledon 2011 & 2014
  • Stosur - USO 2011
  • Sharapova - FO 2012 & FO 2014
  • Azarenka - AO 2012 & 2013
  • Bartoli - Wimbledon 2013
  • Pennetta - USO 2015
  • Kerber - AO 2016, USO 2016 & Wimbledon 2018
  • Muguruza - FO 2016 & Wimbledon 2017
  • Ostapenko - FO 2017
  • Stephens - USO 2017
  • Wozniacki - AO 2018
  • Halep - FO 2018
  • Osaka: USO 2018 & Osaka: AO 2019
  • Barty: FO 2019
True depth and variety. A total win for the entire sport.

That's some list of great champions... except for Sharapova. You prove the opposition's point. LOL.

I always felt she was a better player than she showed in the final. I liked the way she was striking the ball but I suspect nerves got the better of her as well as Barty being too good.
You're a Murray fan, of course you would like somebody who was virtually pushing the ball around the entire match. :p

Vondrousova gave a tremendously friendly runner-up speech, very classy and appeared to be genuinely happy :)

I like the Barty/Halep type of player, because the other women's players are too error-prone and streaky and can lose to literally anyone.
I know Barty's semi-final was very error-prone and extremely streaky, but generally she's keeps the errors down and I think she'll win some more slams by being the steady player when the stars are crashing out.
Halep can do this too, but she lacks composure at times in big matches, whereas Barty may be mentally tougher :)

Yeah the Air Zoom Zeroes give her a clear advantage imo. Ash is only wearing some Fila shoe.

I'm going to watch a little of this. I still don't really trust Barty's game against the top players (although here she hasn't really had to play any), but I'm always wrong about everything tennis.
yes yes,, just as I predicated Again,,, Barty with easy victory

But I don't like players who just push the ball around the entire match. They rarely ever win. I like players like Murray and Vondrousova (who I feel will show her true colours once she reaches her peak).

That's kind of how she played the match, in a tremendously friendly manner. There was no sense that she was willing to scratch and claw to fight her way back into the match. Congrats to Barty but as an event the match was disappointing.

First, congratulations to Barty for this achievement.

But, I’ve watched a replay of this “match”. It felt like R1. Very boring and neither of these two should be in a slam final. Maybe they will get better, but the level of tennis was poor.

Stephens and Halep should’ve taken this title. It’s a missed opportunity for both.

CORRECTION.
Amanda who beat Halep, and was beating Barty up a set and 3-0 in the second should have taken this title!

Such a nice girl, and with a classic style of tennis to match.
It's like going back 40 years in Grand Slam history.
No wonder Laver was so proud of her.
I didn't expect to feel so emotional about this.

Not much of a final, but a nice win for Barty, bring on Wimbledon!;)
There are certain times when you don't want excitement in your life. For example, when your favorite player is routinely winning in a major final, when your spouse is working as a security guard at a bank, etc.

Quite a poor analysis. To say neither should be in a slam final undersells what these two players have achieved not only in the last two weeks but throughout the year.

Von has been the form player on clay this year, winning more matches on the surface than anyone and winning 6 successive matches at RG to make the final. So the form player on clay makes the final. Deserving.

Ash, ranked 8 in the world at the start of RG, and 3 in live rankings before the final, has been the form player this year losing very few matches. Quarters in AO, won Miami, won Fed Cup ties basically single handed against USA in Atlanta and Belarus in Brisbane and then 6 matches at RG to make the final. Deserving.

The final wasn't a great, see-sawing, high quality tennis event, but that is quite often the way with finals. But both these players deserved to be in the final because of the years and two weeks they had, and not only that, they both showed that they have the skill sets to compete in future Grand Slam finals.

Exactly my thoughts. Was more than happy with the match as my heart wasn’t pounding like it was in that SF against Anisimova!! I definitely understand wanting a juicy final but honestly my heart couldn’t have handled that!

Best wta match I've watched in ages. Played in good spirit no b*tchiness, solid game from both players not just a break of serve fest, both players have great touch, vondrousova with her droppers and barty everywhere, no meltdowns or drama, and best of all no grunting or shrieking.
