Kristina breaks back, 3-1!
The coach . . . her life . . . her body . . . who knowsWhat was wrong with Osaka out there?
But at least she‘s happy now!The coach . . . her life . . . her body . . . who knows
She realised she's #1.....What was wrong with Osaka out there?
... At least Halep does not need to contend with Mertens again this time around. Bouchard might be her only real challenge prior to the QF. But Genie has only beaten Simona once -- on the W grass way back in 2014. GB was at the peak of her powers in 2014...
If Simona can take the title she’ll only be a couple hundred points behind Osaka who has to defend her Indian Wells title soon. Might be a short run as #1 for Naomi.
Simona won 12 points in a row broke Tsurenko twice and win 7-5 in 2nd.
Honestly she's so good if only she's not planted on the baseline her attack will be scary!
Tournaments must be so pleased when Halep plays: appears to be the only player with a significant fan base that boosts attendance. And atmosphere.
But no where near as vocal, or loyal. There are a lot of Osaka's fan yesterday tho she lost.

I agree. I watched also, but I got the impression the crowd were trying to lift Osaka. Halep has a large number of vocal supporters where ever she goes. No bad thing given how sparse arenas are generally outside the majors and joint ATP/WTA tournamentsIt's pretty vocal, maybe because she's losing so they are cheering (Based on what I watch). Her fanbase is growing if she's continue playing good which is good for tennis. The 2 biggest superstars on women tennis (Serena and Maria) are playing part time.
Simona has a solid fan base and we need more!
edit: everyone’s favorite underdog Hsieh Su-wei beat Kerber? Her unorthodoxed style of play really stifles her opponents.
Sofia Kenin lost to Kumova 1-6,7-5, 6-2 in 3rd round. Kenin continues to move up the rankings.
Kerber narrowly escaped Hsieh treatment at 2018 AO, but not this time around.
Hsieh can now put Kerber on her big-name, GS holders, wins list along with Muguruza ('18 AO) and Halep ('18 Wimbledon).
