2019 WTA Sudden Death League: Miami

Since the schedule is so screwed, how are you going to determine the R2 points? Both top & bottom are playing tomorrow, so some people could lose top, others could lose bottom, really just comes down to which of their picks plays first.

Mertens plays first tomorrow, she’s in the bottom. If someone picks her & she gets bounced by noon, what happens if their top pick, say Caro, hasn’t even stepped on court?

Think we have to award R2 pts for either correct pick, but can obviously only advance if you get both right.

That's just being stubborn, but whatever. Dumb to have a subsequent pick be done before the first starts.

R2 Top: Sabalenka
BU: Kontaveit

R2 Bottom: Collins
BU: Buzarnescu

DR1: Jurak / Olaru
BU: Flipkens / Larsson

@Boozyuzi question

since it looks like Garbine is about to lose, how does my save work in this situation? Mertens won this morning. If she doesn't somehow come back and win, can I use my save and my Mertens pick remains valid and therefore I advance to the 3rd round?Of course I would have to wait for the top half of this round to pick a burn option as well....but I am just curious because of this weather...

I think we have to go with what is post #1 despite the rain delays and how that effects our comp. There is no rule at the moment about how messed up schedules effect the free picks. It's unlikely to happen very often - perhaps never again - so I'm OK with you using your free pick if Muguruza loses and I'm OK with you advancing and getting points for Mertens winning.

If anyone objects then I guess the options are to disallow the free pick or perhaps only award points if you get the R3 Top pick correct (but that's nuts)

See what everyone else thinks.

Wait what? I'm not out?

Well sadly you are.

I earned a save by being one of the top 4 last year and I am questioning if I can use it in the current situation with Muguruza losing but my bottom pick winning.

I'm not sure I even want to yet but I am seriously considering it. If people object I wont and will still with my original plan of using it at a major

Defeated by a forehand slicer...

It's a bit unfair since the player knows that their subsequent pick has advanced makes the burn has no risk at all.
But it's okay since there is no rule placed yet.
Maybe we need to create some rule since it's raining most of the tournaments (Last year Canada and Cincy, etc).

No objections so @boredone3456 is OK to continue if he decides to do so.

I think this is more likely to happen when we split into top/bottom rather than a regular draw like Canada etc.

Do we need a rule for this for future tournaments? Any suggestions?

Well the one thing I will say to this is that I made both of my picks at the same time not expecting either to actually lose.

However I will not use the save since you believe it is unfair. I'll hold off and use it at another tournament.

Best of luck to those remaining
