It's interesting - a fair few players chose to skip Doha and Dubai in favour of extended rest/training blocks and a return the week before IW/Miami double. I guess it could help many long term having a break from travelling as we will obviously see the players from Doha and Dubai in IW and Miami - how fresh will they be after playing hard for the big points and $ over there?
Stephens just seems to pop up with incredible tennis for a couple of tournaments a year - it'll be interesting to see how she handles defending major points at Miami and at RG.
Wang was very consistent in the Asian hardcourt swing last autumn - I really hope she can find some good form for the main chunk of the season as she is now ranked #18 which will certainly help her draws, but she needs to start racking up points before she will potentially lose a tonne at the end of the season.
Another player I'm keen to see is Katie Boulter - she is starting to get a fair amount of media attention in the UK but thankfully Konta is still British #1 so I'm hoping she's not feeling much pressure and can play freely before all the Brits are under the media spotlight come the grass court season where there will likely be no Andy Murray to take most of it.

Brazilian qualifier Beatriz Haddad Maia beat top-seeded Sloane Stephens 6-3, 6-3 on Wednesday in the Mexican Open for her first victory in seven career matches against players ranked in the top 10.

The fourth-ranked Stephens, the 2017 US Open winner, was making her first appearance in the hardcourt event since winning its 2016 title.

The 22-year-old Haddad Maia will face Monica Puig or Yafan Wang in the quarterfinals.
Another strong effort, Sloane.

TCP is messed up, I was watching it earlier and the feed kept getting cut up. Finally they just ended it.

She seemed to be the stronger of the two. Watching azarenka play doubles now.
