Well, hopefully Fed will have a last hurrah next year just to compensate for this year.

But he will need a very weak draw to win a major.
I expect with the rest of the top 10 are getting stronger and pulling more upsets that Fedly will have some opportunities that are Djokadall free.

I think he can beat any of Djokodal individually, though not consecutively. If he doesn't get a hellish draw and arrives to a slam final/semi against Djokodal rested, he will have his chances.

But, like I said, he needs his draw to the semis/final to be very easy.

Miloslav Mecir has a 7-4 head-to-head lead against Mats Wilander. I would argue that Wilander is an ATG and Mecir not, and Mecir clearly troubled him more than most other players of his ability did. Krajicek also led Sampras 6-4. I know, I know, that is only 10 matches, but if they had played once more, Krajicek would have led with more than 10 matches played even if he had lost the match. Finally, Davydenko led Nadal 6-5.

That said, I agree with your analysis of Federer and Thiem in 2019.
On Hardcourts stats say Federer way betterer than Thiem.;)

You should be huge Med fan.

Yes. For some reason, I wasn't taking them separately and was thinking "Thiem's average across hard and clay is now better than Federer's." But, definitely, Federer is still better than Thiem on hard, although the gap has narrowed.

Wake up. There is no such thing as "matchup issue" on any sport, stop with the excuses. It's like saying that the world chess champion defeats his opponents because they have a "mathup issue" with him, rather than simply because he is better than all of his opponents. In tennis, no single ATG has a losing H2H against a non-ATG if they have played more than 10 matches.

Thiem is better on clay and hard courts than 2019 Federer. You can blame age, but not any "matchup issue". In 2019, Federer has only been clearly better than Thiem outside grass. The reason why Thiem dominates Federer 3-0 in 2019 is simple: Thiem in 2019 is a better tennis player than Federer outside grass.
Why did Monfils never beat Djoker, but over Fed and Bull he managed won? Why did Ferrer never beat Federer, but over Djokodal won several matches?

Why was Krajicek in Wimbledon able to defeat Sampras, while Agassi, Rafter, Becker and others didn't?

'Matchup issues' exist in tennis of course and denying the existence of these factor is foolish!

Fed lost the opening match so as last year, but this time it is in the group with Serbinator, making Roger's chances of getting into SF very complicates. Is very possible, that Fed will have to rely on Berrettini to defeat Thiem.
