"Federer is 388 years old, no? What he does is incredible, no? I will copy past this nonsense in each thread connected to Federer, no?"

Btw, watched this final highlights a few days ago. Crazy, but the quality of tennis was actually getting higher and higher from 1st to 4th set. And Nadal was the better player in both 3rd and 4th set, but choked an easy overhead on bp (or deuce) and got tight in the last games. 5th set dropped in quality but had a lot of drama.

So you're admitting the highest quality sets were the ones Nadal lost :-D

Like I said, Novak's group did not have 3 players with a 2-1 record. It is perfectly fair.

Look at the groups separately. Don't bundle them in together.
So Federer was simply lucky that Thiem won the matches which matter, while Zverev was hot garbage against Tsitsipas. Works nice.

Goaterer loses a competitive match, wins two matches dominantly = he's good enough for SF
Indoordull gets destroyed in a match, wins a match by the skin of his butt, wins another tight match = he's not good enough for SF

And as of this moment Indoordull is not out of the SF, in spite he may not be good for it.

Wtf is actually a nice idea. The problem is that it's the last tournament of the season and players are either tired or injured. It would be better to move it in the middle of the year

Fed’s 4-2 in sets, Thiem’s 4-3, Nadal’s 4-4. He wouldn’t advance even if he were in the other group if he had that same record. Sounds fair to me.

And actually he could still advance top of his group if Zverev loses despite having a worse record than either player in the other group (not to mention Tsitsipas), so this format has actually been quite forgiving for Nadal.
