This is the 7th meeting between the pair, 3rd this year and 3rd on hard court; with Rafa aiming for one more step towards the "Paris Double" and PCB searching a win to remember for his lifetime.
Coming into this match, rafa has struggled heavily in the first round matchup with another countryman & tour veteran Feliciano Lopez; whereas he had to work really hard to win the 2nd set against Thompson in the round of 16.
On the other hand, PCB has taken down the in-form heavy hitter from Germany, Struff in straight sets in the first round and looked well on top in his encounter with Gombos in the second match.
But ofcourse, nadal has dropped just 1 set to PCB in his entire life; that too, at Doha2016 under somewhat similar court conditions to this paris clash. But both of their meetings this year have been straightforward annihilation displays by the clay GOD.
