Noah Rubin got absolutely dominated by ancient Paolo Lorenzi in a qualifier. Soeda-Tomic up next.

Lmao, Tomic the Tank Engine living up to his name. Broken in 4 of 6 service games. Down a set and double break 6-2 3-0.

Jack Sock hasn't won a real match, not Laver, since Paris in '18. And he looks like he's about to lose again to Marcus Giron.
He’s always been in poor shape for a professional athlete, but now he looks like he is out of shape by office worker standards. Also, his serve is 15 mph less than it use to be. Maybe the injuries zapped his old power.

Sandgren was top play on Sports Center overnight with his tweener passing shot vs Johnson!

He lost in a third set TB from a set up.

@Baseline_Bungle will be happy to see amico Paolo has qualified at NYO and then overcame a lost first set to roll over fellow qualifier Danilo Petrovic, 4-6 6-4 6-0.

Lorenzi plays 20-year-old Miomir Kecmanovic 2R.

Lorenzi plays 20-year-old Miomir Kecmanovic 2R.

It's the oddest thing, considering that his natural habitat is a secondary (clay) court in some Central American challenger, but for whatever unfathomable reason, he seems to really shine on the New York stage.

Heroes come and go, Lorenzi is forever.

NYC slogan - House Of The Black Courts! I started on blacktop tennis courts! When the sun and heat went to 95+, the weight of your shoes would stick to the court surface and go down on the blacktop making a real small divot! Those were the fun times!

"the history of this important ATP membership dates back to the conception and commencement of the ATP itself. Originally located in San Francisco, CA, in 1990, the tournament relocated twice over the last 28 years, first to San Jose, CA, and then to Memphis, TN. Its champions read like a Who’s Who of professional tennis, including legends such as John McEnroe, Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, Michael Chang, and Andy Murray, and a new generation of stars like Kei Nishikori, Milos Raonic, and Ryan Harrison."

Which one doesn't belong game.

Kecmanovic with a nice little win over Ugo Humbert earlier in New York. Casper Ruud continues his dominant form in Buenos Aires.

No love for Edmund from @Mainad ??? He just baked a breadstick for Kecmamovic in the SFs. On serve in the second, 2-3.

I'm always a tad cautious where Kyle is concerned given he's flattered to deceive me so many times but fair play to him, he's made another ATP final. Fingers crossed for him that he can add a 2nd ATP title to his name just over a year following his first.
