- Marat, that was quick, 21 games. Can you imagine you've just defeated the man who will win all his eight AO finals in the next 15 years?
- (laughing) You're funny guy.

This aged well lolDjokovic (and Nadal) have lost their biggest asset. Thiem can outgrind them anywhere now (even Nadal at the FO). It takes one more guy like Thiem and the party's over for grandpas who should've been losing way more often way ealier than now.
LulzDjokovic has given up and will go quietly into the night
Then the seedings rule needs to change so that #3 is always be in the bottom half..
Rafa was seeded #1 at the Australian Open. Djoker was seeded #2. Fed was seeded #3.
#1 Rafa and #2 Djoker were in seperate halves and guaranteed not to meet until the Finals.
#2 Djoker and #3 Fed were guaranteed to meet in the SF because #3 should always be in the second half.
Likewise, if the seedings at French are #1 Djoker, #2 Rafa and #3 Thiem, #2 Rafa and #3 Thiem will meet in the SF.
LOLThis aged well lol
Murray US open 2012Just occurred to me that 5 of Djokovic's Slam finals have now gone the distance ie. to a 5th set but he has only lost 1 of them. Wonder if anybody can guess which was the only one he lost?![]()
Why should Djokovic thank the audience? I'd be darned pleased if he really let them have it. "Thanks to those few who are from Serbian and supported me. To all Nadal and Fed fans who cheered my errors(especially in the fifth set) and are fake Dominic fans...bugger off."
They are only fueling Djokovic's fight to win more slams and take that record himself.

You are right when you are right! Nadal's ocd is disgusting to watch for me. With all that sweat and touching, I am surprised he is not just one huge acne!Djoker does not need any more motivation. He said last year that his goal is to be the all-time slam winner.
Djoker is on a mission. The crowd support means nothing and he may actually feed on any negativity.
Djoker is more likeable than strange Rafa that spends half the match scratching himself.
@swordtennis sticking the landingThe one who voted for Joe Ko Vich in 5
well done
Lew looks good, his shirt says it all.
Hey, being so bitter can influence your helth...will this guy be GOAT by winning more of these lucky slams by default because the other guy misses? (Thiem on about 50 routine FHs, Fed in double MP)
no chance. He could make it to 25 and jt
he wasn’t playing well though.... push the ball back in play is not good tennis. Thiem would’ve won this if he rallied with Djokovic instead of bulldozing every single ball like an idiot.

Your thoughts post match? HahaAh ok. So Djoker only needs 1.5 hours and play his B game to win tonight if A level Thiem doesn't show up? Djoker might need to play the match of his life if Thiem brings it.
What a roller coaster ride! Besides the match the thread was all over the place. Just hoping fedal never meet djokovic ever again in a major. Never want to hear about the scuses and the age obsession ever again.@swordtennis sticking the landing

Medvedev and thiem are very good returners..... they win 30%+ return games which is excellent.Yeah, not a single next gen player has a noteworthy return. Mentally they're all pretty frail as well.
I really like Thiem but he broke himself several times at crucial moments and his decision making when making some of these returns has been poor too. I think Thiem will improve his serve but I'm not sure he'll be able to add much to his ROS.

Yeah you can’t expect an ATG to beat a strong peaking rival 6 years younger than him at a slam amirite? HahaWhat a roller coaster ride! Besides the match the thread was all over the place. Lol can never happen. It was crazy how during the match all these theories and agendas were collapsing in on themselves. It was surreal. Well just got to enjoy the matches. It was an epic.Yeah you can’t expect an ATG to beat a strong peaking rival 6 years younger than him at a slam amirite? Haha

You know why he didn’t say anything? Because he knows the fans always win. He will start losing and when he does guess who’ll be there to witness his decline? The crowd and they will revel in every second of it. No need to get even more hate. He’s well aware that the world outside of Serbia doesn’t and never did care for him. There was even a fan in the stands with a “Serbia vs The World.” T shirt on. His Serbian fans are even aware of it. Is it because they started World War II? Maybe for the older generation, but it’s mainly for his “try hard to love to me” personality and the way he carries himself on the court. Everywhere he plays, London, New York, Paris and Melbourne, etc. if it’s not for his little Serbian immigrant contingent they will always cheer for him to lose. Why should Djokovic thank the audience? I'd be darned pleased if he really let them have it. "Thanks to those few who are from Serbian and supported me. You're correct I saw that also. I still can't stand it and wish they would play the semis on the same day, it's just stupid that they don't. No one should be able to kick back and watch the other semi with popcorn a full day after their match.
Just a realist. Our guy fought his heart out but Nole just too good. You are fired from the Thiem.![]()
The better player won. Great job! Great effort by both. See you at the French Open!Your thoughts post match? Haha

Its been a joke the whole time the lost generation was the main competition so that’s 10 years back that the decline started. And then the poly decline really started by 2004 with the big fours excellent baseline game sweeping aside the all court sheep. We’ve got a short window of excellence here where the big three, thiem and now maybe even Wawrinka take on the next GEN. Diamond Age heating up! Never been more crowded at the top.For all the criticism about today's state of the field, a reminder that we have been treated to three memorable Slam finals in a row now. One between two all time greats, and then two between the greats and the rising stars. Plus a good match for the ATP Finals title between two younger players. It's safe to say the next generations are getting close, while we have these three phenomenons still entertaining us as well. Tennis is not so bad at all lately.
I have lost count how many times this guy has won after his opponent looked "in control" for good part of the match. And it takes a true champion's mind to not just come back but become dominant again after all the struggles that didn't happen long ago. Congratulations to Djokovic on another Slam and his return to the top of the rankings. Legendary player and a mental giant.
Most of the tennis world should concede now that Nole is mentally toughest player....Novak almost never gives up and he never chokes. He is everything Fed isn't.
