Naomi Osaka asking for a Marcus that she‘s been watching tweets from all the time. She said I know you’re here today. Thanks for coming, Lol, now channel 9 are trying to find this mystery man!!
They just interviewed mystery man Marcus, he said he was shaking when she mentioned him and he put his hand up but she was facing the wrong way so she didn’t see him. Apparently channel 9 are going to help setup a meeting between the two. How lovely. :D

She really did fight her way through. Like I said before - she doesn't seem to be concerned if there's ugly points, bad stretches - as long as she wins enough points in the end.
She should be concerned with bad stretches; adrenaline and "going for it" will eventually be swatted back by players who know the court better than she does. I'm reminded of Vaidisova when she made her splash from 2005-06, was hard-hitting and seemingly a growing threat to top players, but she became erratic and ultimately did not attain the court understanding to back that up. I see the potential for a repeat of that kind of career here, although Coco is more court-schooled at this stage. She just had to go to that toolbox more than rely on energy.

If she doesn't run into Osaka next round she could make it to second week(again). This kid is the real deal. I want to see all those she is overrated threads from last year.
They said she was overrated because certain members resent who she is, and how that threatens these odd players they rave about/start entire threads about, usually predicting things that will never happen.

I’m watching Kuzmova/Sasnovich against an Aussie WC pair, this may be the worst professional match I’ve ever seen. The #15 seeds were -1110 favorites, & they’re trying real hard to lose.

Barty Rybakina, Osaka Gauff and 2nd round Ostapenko Bencic should be good matches. Sorry for Ostapenko or Bencic though.

Yastremska totally using gamesmanship. Long bathroom break, Woz doesn't win a poin for 3 games. Now call the trainer...
Woz doing the same thing at final 2 years ago....
But it's completely legit.
Naomi also took a bathroom break after lost 2nd set to Petra probably for crying.

Anyway, this is not the first time Dayana doing this.

Again, a very convenient draw for Serena.
And who does Osaka get in the 3rd round?
Gauff, of course, one of the most dangerous up and coming players on the tour.

How the powers to be must be salivating at the prospect of Serena winning this Slam in front of homophobic Margaret Court.
Once more, whichever place in the ranking Serena occupies, it automatically becomes the #1 ranking and the #1 seed.
The WTA is basically putting into practice the content of her infamous interview where she threw shade at Safina and her #1 ranking.
Except now she isn't even "holding 3 Slams".

Absolutely, she should care. I think I didn't communicate what I meant very well. By saying she doesn't "care" about her bad stretches and ugly tennis, I simply mean that she doesn't seem to get frustrated with it to the extent of directly or indirectly giving up and not believing she can still win. You how some players are "my forehand is awful today; I'm not feeling it" and get increasingly despondent and start doing stupid things and not constructing points and not really trying to find a way to win. Coco never seems to do this - she keeps plugging. So, yes she needs to care about having bad stretches inthe first place, but I really appreciate at this young age how she can "accept" those stretches in the moment and not let it lead to not competing, not truly fighting, not trying somehow to win the match.

Will Maddy ever win a slam? I thought she's getting better but it seems still the same as she used to.
I agree with you! Keys in most GS does get at least to the beginning of the 2nd week where the tough and the “hot“ players are the only players left in the draw. Keys is usually not as hot or as tough and usually looses in day 10-11 of the tournament. Her best GS is U.S. Open where she was a Finalist!

Hoping Wang Qiang actually shows up to her R3 vs Serena. That USO 2019 QF was grim... 1 and love.
I'm expecting Osaka will straight sets Gauff once again, but not as simply as 3 and love... maybe 4 and 3 or something.

Listening to Coco Gauff Vs Sorana Cirstea.. I was reminded of Fleetwood Mac's Big Love track
Noticeable, but not as unpleasant as some..

anyone know who the chair umpire is for the Bencic-Ostapenko match?

also why is Bartoli in Ostapenko's box.... ?

What - is it raining again? In Australia??? (As there seems to be no action on the side-courts  )

Nice start in the Bencic-Ostapenko match (3-0)!

Barty and Pliskova get easier draw lol.
Serena is supposedly meet Yastremska on 4R, one of the most dangerous (Definitely more than Gauff) floater.

During the week, I rarely have the time to see a match, but when I do, Bencic makes sure she wastes a double break... again. Though Ostapenko's upped her level, she can't throw 2 DF in one game.

Loved that Ostapenko DF. I'm actually surprised she didn't challenged that, a la Marat Safin. :p

Playing on the side courts starting! :)

Tomljanovic has produced some really great looking backhand winners. Second set still wide open at 2-2. (I only today learned that Kyrgios out, Berrettini in! )
