Edit: spoke too soon, she does walk to the back wall between service points
Frankly, I don't really see an issue with this ritual. Lot of players do some sort or focusing ritual between points. Some go to the towel or just adjust/play with their strings for a bit. Was Elena taking an inordinately long time when she did the focus walk? When I have seen Maria doing it, in person, I don't recall her taking a very long time to do this when she was serving or when she was receiving.

Seems to me that Rafa & others slow down the pace and takes more time between points than Maria or Elena.

Odd that Simona, with 3, out-aced Elena (only 2). Elena is the 2020 WTA ace leader with over 100 aces this year... about 5x as many as Simona. Was Simona really reading and returning that well? Or was Elena serving more conservatively in this final?

1-3 is pretty bad but hey 4 finals! Not too shaby. Hope she's moving forward unlike Aryna.
Pretty bad??? Why would you even say that? 2 of those 3 loses in finals this year came at the hands of Kiki and Simona. No shame in that. Aryna not doing quite as well as she was last year but she did reach the QF round at the AO and is still winning more matches than she is losing (56%).

Elena was totally fine, didn't take long at all. I think Maria would sometimes take it too far, with the server having to wait for her rituals. Just though it was funny that just after I commented on that particular Sharapova ritual, I see Elena doing a version of it. :)

Simona hit some great angles. I had no idea Elena was ace leader, at some point I was actually going to post that she should work on her serve! :D They seemed gettable, not sure if that was Simona being amazingly fast, or Elena not reaching her normal speeds.

It's only when you root against Simona - and I usually do the opposite - that you realise she has become a really tough player to beat, even in the mental department (that was once her Achilles heel).

Absolutely baffled by next weeks entry list for Acapulco and Doha.

Why on earth is #12 Keys playing an International instead of Premier 5 Doha? She must be getting one hell of a payday to skip a Premier 5 tournament offering up to 900 points for a tournament that will get her a max 280 points. It makes sense for #2 seed Sloane since she's ranked #34 and is 0-3 this year but Keys made the Brisbane final and AO 3R and would've been the 10th seed. Could genuinely have gone deep in Doha.
Out of Acapulco too.

It's pretty bad final ratio. That what makes a player is a ultimate champ or not imo. One of the thing that I felt Simona is not reaching that 'status' as she's bad final ratio. At the end of the day for a champion it's how many titles you had not how many finals you make.

I have high hopes for Elena tho but she also lost pretty badly in 2 finals this year.

Simona is great returner.

Yeah I felt Simona played aggresive especially with the down the lines and passing shots (Only watch 3rd sets).

Great week from Halep.

Wins her first title since winning Wimbledon back in July. It's also her 20th career title.

Got her revenge on Sabalenka from Adelaide and on Rybakina from Wuhan.

She also narrows the gap (which is still massive) between #1 Barty and herself.
